“You okay, little one?”
She startled, staring up at him. “Yes, of course. I didn’t get a spanking.”
“No, but I know it can be hard to see someone you love crying. Were you worried I had gone too far?”
“For a bit,” she admitted. “But then I remembered that Marcus has his safeword. And that you wouldn’t truly hurt him.”
“Never. I will try to never push too far or do something that would truly hurt either of you.”
She nodded.
“How about we go back to my suite? We’ll have some lunch and then Isla can take a nap.”
“Not me. I’m a big boy,” Marcus said quickly.
“We’ll see, big boy.”
Chapter 20
Isla stared around at Eliot’s suite curiously. It wasn’t much different from theirs, except he said the second bedroom was a nursery and playroom.
To her surprise, all of their shopping bags were already in the room. Just inside the door.
“Oh good, our deliveries are here. You can take whatever you want back to your rooms later. But let’s see what we have here.” Eliot drew out the bottle, bib, and pacifier. “I’ll wash your bottle and pacifier for your nap.”
Was she doing that? Was she going to try those things?
It seemed she was.
“Can we see the playroom?” Marcus asked.
“Of course.” Eliot moved to one of the doors and opened it. “In here.”
Marcus took her hand and led her into the room.
“This is all owned by the Ranch. They’re not my personal things. But I do think there are toys you might like.” He walked over to a set of cupboards and opened them, revealing all sorts of toys.
“A digger!” Marcus grabbed out a digger and a truck. She was more reticent. She studied it first. All the furniture was white. There was a bed in one corner of the room and a crib in the other. At the end of the crib was a change table. She blushed at the idea of using that. Another corner held a rocking chair and small bookshelf.
“Why don’t we get the toys you want to play with out of the cupboard and you can both play while I sort lunch?” Eliot suggested.
“I want dino nuggets,” Marcus said, sitting down.
“Excuse me, young man?”
Marcus blinked up in confusion. “Umm.”
“Say please,” she whispered to him, coming over and sitting next to him. She was surprised that he could sit on his butt after that spanking.
“Oh yeah, please!”
“Better. But you can’t live on dino nuggets.”
“But they have all the good stuff. Chicken, breadcrumbs, there’s got to be some egg in there somewhere. All the bases are covered.”
“What about vegetables?”
“Pfft, don’t worry about them. I sure don’t.”
“I can tell. But someone has to worry about your health. Little one, what would you like to play with?”
She looked nervously at the toys.
“You can play with me, La-la!” Marcus pushed his digger into his truck, making it topple. “Ooh, are there any monster trucks in here?”
Eliot snapped his fingers. “We forgot something.”
They had?
He moved out of the playroom and returned quickly with the extra squishy sloth she’d bought. She reached out, her fingers moving through the air with her excitement. He handed Sophie over and she hugged her tight.
“There you are. That’s better. Would you like to get into your sloth onesie?”
She nodded. “Yes, please.”
“Good girl. Are you all right if I help you?”
“Yes.”
“Come on. Let’s use the changing table.” He led her over, then to her surprise, he lifted her onto the table. It was only about waist high on him. She lay back, feeling slightly weird.
But this also felt so right.
“Would you like your pacifier?”
“Yes, please.”
“That’s my good girl. Let’s just put the strap around your middle so you don’t roll off. I should have been more prepared, shouldn’t I?”
He strapped her in. It wasn’t like she couldn’t take it off or wriggle out. But it gave her this strange sense of security. He returned quickly with her pacifier and onesie. He held the pacifier to her lips.
“Open up, little one.”
She took it experimentally. She’d never tried one of these before. And while it felt different, she also felt this strange sense of peace come over her.
“Look out for the airplane!” Marcus zoomed past, holding a toy helicopter in his hand.
Eliot smiled at him indulgently. Then he slowly stripped off her pants and oversized sweater.
He slid the onesie on and up her legs. She should maybe feel embarrassed about being in her panties, a T-shirt, and bra. But she felt soothed.
Maybe it was the pacifier.
Or maybe it was the fact that Marcus was close by, zooming around the room with his helicopter.
Or it could be Eliot himself. Would she feel like this with another Daddy? The urge to call him Daddy welled inside her.
But this was temporary. And it didn’t feel quite right yet.
“Right, let’s get you up.” He undid the belt and helped her sit, just as there was a knock on the outside door.
