“Whoa. Hey.” Eliot appeared in front of him, taking his face between his hands. The warmth of his touch seeped into his skin, pulling Marcus back from the edge of panic. “Are you okay? Just breathe. Good boy. Keep breathing. That’s it. In. Out. Good boy.”
“Sorry. I don’t know what happened.”
Isla wrapped herself around the back of him.
“I know that you’re bound to have doubts. It’s going to take time to build trust in me. But I swear I’m here for good.” Eliot drew them both in against his chest. “I can’t believe you’re willing to give me a chance. I won’t fail either of you.”
“We won’t fail you either,” Isla said.
“Because we love you,” Marcus added.
Eliot sucked in a breath, staring at them both in amazement. “You love me?”
“I love you, Eliot,” Isla said.
“I love you too,” Marcus added.
“I love you, Isla.” Eliot leaned forward and kissed her lightly. “And I love you, Marcus.” He kissed him and Marcus breathed out a long sigh of relief. “And I’m so glad to have you both back in my arms.”
Marcus didn’t care what Isla said. He was certain those mushrooms were magical.
Chapter 27
“Have the two of you gotten any sleep since leaving Rawhide Ranch?” Eliot asked as he made them hot chocolates in the tiny kitchen area in Marcus’ rooms.
Isla smothered her yawn guiltily. Whoops.
He turned and eyed them sternly where she and Marcus sat on the sofa. He carried the hot chocolates over and set them on the coffee table. Then he sat facing them.
“I got a little,” she said. “Marcus didn’t.”
“Hey! No telling on me!” Marcus pouted slightly. “I was working.”
“And when you work, you don’t sleep?” Eliot asked.
“He barely slept or ate, and he didn’t shower once. He really stank.” Isla held her nose with her thumb and forefinger.
“Whoa… what is this? Pick on Marcus day? I didn’t get the memo.”
“I was really worried about you.” She leaned her head against his arm.
“Sorry, La-la. I kind of threw myself into work and forgot about everything else.”
“Right. So, after your drinks, you’re both going down for a nap.”
“I won’t sleep tonight if I sleep now, though,” Marcus said.
“I think I can help with that,” Eliot said. “There weren’t any plastic cups, little one. I’ll need to help you with your hot chocolate so you don’t spill it. Marcus, do you need help?”
“I’m a big boy.”
Eliot picked up his mug of hot chocolate and tested the temperature first by taking a sip. Then he handed it over to Marcus.
“Thanks, Daddy.”
Marcus sounded almost shy, and she leaned against him. The look of pleasure on Eliot’s face told her how much he needed to hear him call him that.
Eliot reached out his hand to her. She took it, feeling confused. He drew her up then sat in her place and pulled her onto his lap.
Oh, she liked that.
He wrapped one arm around her, then Marcus handed her hot chocolate to him. Again, he took a sip before holding it to her mouth. “Small sips, little one.”
“This is good, Daddy. But you forgot a few things.”
“Did I? What did I forget?” he asked Marcus.
“The whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles.”
“That sounds like entirely too much sugar for two Little to have,” Eliot told him.
“Nuh-uh, Daddy, it sounds like just the right amount.”
“How much sugar have you been eating?” he asked Marcus.
“Umm… I plead the fifth.”
“I don’t think the fifth pertains to this situation. You can’t pull the fifth with Daddy.”
“That sucks. I suppose I’ve eaten a bit. I had to in order to keep my brain moving. It lives on sugar.”
“Not anymore,” Eliot warned. “You’re going to eat better and I’m going to make sure you both get plenty of sleep. Understand? Right, if you’re finished, let’s get you both into bed.”
Fifteen minutes later, Isla could hardly keep her eyes open as Eliot held the blankets back while she and Marcus climbed into his bed.
“Aren’t you gonna join us, Daddy?” she asked.
Eliot hesitated. “You’re sure?”
“Come on, you big sexy teddy bear,” Marcus said. “Snuggle time.”
He stripped off to his boxers and T-shirt and climbed in between them. For the first time since being at the Ranch, Isla found herself easily drifting off to sleep.
She sent of a small prayer of thanks to the sleep fairy.
After all, she’d been wishing to her every night since they returned from the Ranch to bring Eliot back to them.
And here he was.
Marcus stretched.
He was warm, sleepy, and horny as hell. Rolling over, he pressed himself against the big, hot body next to him.
Yum.
Reaching up, he ran his hand down a wide T-shirt-clad chest and down to cotton boxers and a really huge erection.
Epic.
“You’re not Isla.”
“No, I’m not,” a deep voice said with clear amusement.
Marcus moved his hand under Eliot’s boxers, grasping hold of his firm dick.
“Delicious. I like waking up like this.” He opened his eyes as the bed shifted. Isla moved so she was resting half on top of Eliot. She stared at him with her eyebrows raised.
