“No, Stormy and Ramon are civilians. Just as dangerous and loyal though. Their pockets are deep enough. We’ll still have the desired effect.”
I have nothing against the Lost Souls. However, they have had trouble in the past that I’m not interested in tying my money to. Clay, on the other hand, has a deep loyalty to King and the rest of the Lost Souls. I get it. He got his start with their help.
“I want to know why these deals are falling through,” I mutter.
“The moment it got out we might start running for a few offices, this shit started.”
“Yeah, but my gut says it’s deeper than that.” I sigh. “Make the deal happen with your people. I’ll take over once they commit. Call me if something else comes up,” I say and hang up.
“Fuck, can’t I catch a break?”
We need these new deals for some bigger moves we plan to make. It’s like someone is picking away at our plans. I can’t wait to get back so I can look at things with Clay and see if I can pull the needle out of the haystack. I’m almost done wrapping up all affairs here. I won’t need to return for a while.
The sale of the house will be done in two weeks, and we can leave then. I’m saying goodbye to my past. It’s time to shut the door on Addison and the mess she created in my life. I’ve purchased an apartment at Burj Khalifa. That’s where my family will stay when I need to come in for business.
“Everything okay?”
I turn to find Cee with her eyes on me. I give her a smile and beckon her to come to me with my arms open. She comes into the room, and I wrap her in my embrace.
“I love you,” I murmur into her neck.
Chapter 39
Promises & Vows
Chloe
“Oh my God, that was fun,” I sing as I step out of the SUV. I fan at my face as the heat blasts me. It’s hot as hell but it’s been so worth it.
I fix the scarf on my head and look at Gregor in his. His hair is covered, but his skin has taken on a golden-brown hue, and his cheeks are red.
He gives me a broad smile. “I couldn’t allow you to go home without this experience. Dune bashing is thrilling, but I think you’re going to love the quad ride. The day is just getting started though, wait until tonight.”
“I can’t wait, the camel ride was awesome. I’m excited about the henna painting too.”
“You’re going to love the food. The entertainment is always fun.”
“Oh,” I sing and move to bump Gregor with my hip. “Check Ethan out. That chick has been all over him since we got here.”
Gregor looks over at his head of security and smiles. “She’s not his type, but he’s too polite to say something,” he murmurs for my ears only.
“Is that right? What’s his type?”
He turns and winks at me. “Watch his eyes. It’s her friend.”
I look at the friend of the woman trying to get Ethan’s attention. My mouth falls open as I catch the hungry look on Ethan’s face as he looks at the thick ebony friend with the cute top and short shorts.
“Okay,” I say and pull a face. “I see you, Ethan.”
He looks up as if hearing me and gives a small smile. Just as quick, he moves to catch the curvy friend as she trips. The way she looks up at him and he looks down at her is straight out of a romance novel—as if she’s seeing him for the first time and he’s ready to devour her whole. Sid would love this.
“Baby, come on. You can ride with me,” Gregor calls as he straddles one of the quads waiting for everyone. He holds out a pair of goggles for me to put on, his are already on his face.
After getting my goggles on, I climb on behind him and wrap my arms around his waist. I place my cheek against his warm back. This has been such a fun day. I get a pang in my heart as I think of the fact that we’re getting ready to go back home.
I’m afraid of this bubble bursting and the real world coming in. I hope this feeling can survive what awaits us back home.

The night has turned out amazing. I look around at the vibrant-colored covered tables, pillows, and rugs for seating. The tables are sectioned off into little areas for groups to sit in.
In the center of all the tables is a square carpeted area that acts as a stage before everyone. I can’t wipe the smile off my face as I turn to watch Cee. She’s looking at the flamethrower with awe in her eyes. I think she may have found more inspiration for her paintings.
