There are two guards nearby. “Get away from here. I don’t even want anyone on this floor.” I don’t trust anyone but family around my wife, and I don’t have anyone but Dario for that.

The fucker dared to claim they had a relationship, which was laughable. Not only was that unbelievable, but it was also improbable. June hardly spent any time away from me, her sister, or January, and never alone with a guard. I trusted my wife just as she gave me hers, but it was just rare that we cared to be apart.

I didn’t leave our bedroom door; instead, I sent a text to her sister.

June needs you to stay with her. ASAP

She arrives outside the door. I briefly, and with the calmest demeanor I can, explain what happened before letting her watch over June while I leave to handle the rest of the situation. Just as I was getting to the stairs, May calls out, “Tear that bastard to pieces.”

“I will.” I nod and rush down the stairs out to the backyard. My eyes move over to where I fucked the hell out of June last week. The bastard had to have been lurking from a window inside the house in our bedroom to see us.

“Hey, birthday man. Where is the wife?”

“She’s not feeling well.” I stand on the elevated deck and call out, “Everyone. I’m sure you’re all having a wonderful time, but unfortunately we’re going to have to call it a night. June is feeling a little off right now, and I’m going to spend the rest of the night tending to my wife. Thank you all for coming. Take some more cake to go. Thanks again.”

The guests, knowing my obsession with my bride, know I’ll return to her side, tending to her over everything else, and I would, if I didn’t have a special matter that needed my attention.

Jumping down from my makeshift stage, I wave everyone off and turn to my new housekeeper and inform her, “Please help everyone depart. Thanks.”

“Yes, Mr. D’Amato.”

With every step toward my next stop—the shed—I think about what I’m going to do to that fucker. Yes, I want to tear him limb from limb, but will I have the patience for the task, or will my rage get the better of me? Will my love for June just be too much to spare him another ounce of breath?

I knocked three times on the shed where Enrico and Dario waited patiently with our special friend. Enrico opens the door with a smirk on his face. “We’re at your service, my friend.”

I step inside and find that they’ve already prepared the fucker. He’s got a busted lip and he’s tied to a chair in the middle of the room with his eyes looking down, refusing to meet mine. Suddenly he doesn’t seem so fucking bold anymore.

“Michael, Michael, Michael. Why don’t you greet Alessio? You were eager to say all you had to say earlier about June,” Dario says. The man is ready for me to go insane, like it was difficult to do. This fucker put his hands on my beloved bride with the intent of harming her, violating her, and then had the nerve to claim they were lovers.

He looks up at me with a menacing stare. I’m starting to wonder about this asshole. Who in their right mind, tied to a chair, looks at the person with their life in their hands with such dismissive disgust. “I don’t care to greet the enemy.”

I take a deep, calming breath when I want to choke the life out of him. “So, please, do tell me about this special relationship you had with my wife. I’d love to hear how you were able to bed her without anyone being aware of it.”

“You wouldn’t understand because you’re a neanderthal. It wasn’t sex; it was spiritual. We had a bond you wouldn’t know anything about. She and I have a connection deeper than anything. June’s my other half.”

“Then why were you trying to force yourself on her?”

“I wasn’t forcing myself. I wanted to remind her what she was and what she’d done. She betrayed me.”

I lose control and start waling on him, punching him until he’s on the ground, the wooden chair smashed and his face pummeled. That isn’t enough, though. My onslaught continues when I grab a broken piece of wood and jab it into his mouth. “That’s for talking about her like that. She’s mine.”

“Come on, Alessio, enough,” Dario says, tugging on my shoulders, forcing me onto my ass. I sit there for a minute, breathing heavily, chest heaving, knuckles bloody and bruised but it’s so worth it.

The bastard is probably already dead, but I’m not done with him. Getting to my feet, I pull out my gun and shoot Michael in the heart. I don’t even want to wait and discuss this shit. Her name coming out of his mouth sent me into a rage.
