And then my body locked down, my orgasm washing over me like a wave. Long, powerful, and consuming. I cried out my release into his mouth as he stiffened, his arms holding me so tightly I could barely breathe, a deep, muffled groan sounding in his chest as he succumbed to the pleasure. His mouth gentled, becoming softer. Sweeter. He kissed my cheeks, my eyes, then buried his face into my neck, still rocking, both of us basking in the afterglow, satisfaction and warmth making us content. Lowering us to the mattress, he lay beside me and cupped the back of my head, looking down at me. I opened my eyes and met his gaze.

“Amy,” he whispered.

I traced his mouth, still damp from our passion. “Hi.”

He smiled. “I love you.”

I snuggled into his chest, letting his love saturate my body and his words fill my heart.

“I’m never letting you go,” he vowed. “You complete me in a way I didn’t know existed. Promise me you’ll stay with me. With us. Build a life with me.” His arms tightened. “Let me be yours.”

I tilted up my head. “You want to be mine? You want everyone to know that?”

“Yes. I want everyone to know I belong to you. That you’re mine. I love you, Amy. Every single part of you. The flower child, the free spirit, the loving woman, the teacher, the artist, the sexy wanton in my bed. The thinker. The mother in you. All of it.” He pressed a kiss to my mouth. “I love all of you.”

I felt the tears build in my eyes, and he kept talking. “So does Mia. She adores you. I have never seen her get this attached to someone. She loves Holly, but she needs you. You give her something I can’t—that no one else can. You give me something I didn’t know I needed. I don’t even know what it is, except it’s all you. We both need you.”

“And I’m enough,” I said in wonder.

“I don’t want to change anything about you. You fit with us so well. You bring a light and warmth into our lives I never realized was missing. You are more than enough.” He paused. “Are you willing to take us on?”

I stared into his hopeful, anxious gaze. I traced my finger over his jaw and smiled. “Yes, Simon Fletcher, I’m willing to take you on. I love you both, and I want my future to have you both in it.”

His smile was wide and his kiss passionate. “We’ll take it as slow or fast as you want,” he promised. “Don’t stay away from us because you think you should, or society thinks we’re going too fast. I don’t care what anyone thinks but us. As long as I know we’re headed for the same goal, I’m good. Just promise me I can see you more. Work here a couple nights—or every night, if you want. We’ll figure it all out. Together.”

Together—what a lovely word.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he held me close.

“Yes.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

AMY

The next morning, I woke to the smell of coffee and the sound of giggles coming from the kitchen. I could hear the deep timbre of Simon’s voice hushing Mia, then his low laughter as she no doubt did something cute that amused him. I loved their relationship. His utter adoration of her and the way she hero-worshiped him. I pulled myself up into a sitting position, resting against the fluffy pillows and drawing my legs up to my chest. I looked around the room, the morning sun spilling through the windows and the view of the water. It danced and swirled in the breeze, a multitude of colors captured in the sunshine. It would be a great day for a picnic.

I thought about last night. The surprise Simon and Mia had for me. The beautiful office I could work from so I would be close to them.

Because they liked having me here and missed me when I wasn’t around.

It was still a foreign feeling to me—being so accepted. So wanted.

And the office was simply perfect.

I had hated going back to my apartment at the end of the day last week. My highlight had been the brief glimpses of Simon when he picked up Mia. Our phone calls and texts. The dinner we had shared. My place seemed so cramped and lonely now. My bed was empty and cold. I missed Simon’s warmth, his arms around me, his breath on my neck as he would pull me to his chest and hold me close. Dinner was lonely and quiet without Mia’s giggles and questions.

The truth was, I liked being here with them. Feeling as if I belonged. As if I mattered. My ex had shattered my self-confidence to the point I was skeptical I would be able to trust anyone again, yet with Simon, my trust was absolute. After the rocky start and his complete honesty, he gave me no reason to doubt him. He was clear and open with his feelings and affection. I liked how he made me feel. Wanted. Adored. Needed. Loved.
