Who was I to deny him? Especially when I wanted more of his kisses. I could easily become addicted to his kisses.

I expected him to set me on my feet and smack my ass as I headed to the bathroom or something, but instead, he sat up with me in his arms, my legs straddling his hips, and carried me to the bathroom and set me on the vanity.

He turned on the hot water and let it heat while retrieving a couple of washcloths and discarding the condom. He didn’t take long and I just sat there. I was equal parts stunned and crashing. I’d just had the best sex I’d ever imagined, and there was still a possibility this man could turn into my worst enemy.

“If things go to shit later, Bear, I just want you to know that was one of the best experiences of my life.”

For long moments, Bear said nothing. He did take the washcloth from my trembling fingers and gently cleaned me before tossing the cloth in the hamper. When he returned his attention back to me, he braced his hands on either side of my hips and held my gaze with his for several moments.

Finally, he sighed. “Honey, even if things go to shit later, I’m still on your side until you prove to me you’re not on mine. I’m here to protect you. I’m gonna keep you safe from my enemies. You’re going to be as much a part of this club as the other women. They’ll support you. I’ll support you.”

“These guys, Bear…” I cringed away, shaking my head. “They’re bad news. They said they are CIA, but if they are, they’re not operating inside the agency. At least, I hope they’re not. If our government does this kind of thing to people inside their own country, I’m not sure how anyone could support them.”

“Do you know what the end goal is?”

“All I know is they want to, in their words, ‘take down that whole motherfucking club and put them in their place.’ That’s a direct quote. I recorded it on my real cell phone. The one at home in my room. They wouldn’t let me take it because they said two phones would be suspicious enough for them to not let me in.”

“So, we have the guys make a run for your house and steal it.” He shrugged as though it was no big deal.

“You say that like it’s easy. My father has top-notch security. Government level. I’m not sure you understood the ‘international businessman’ part of what he does. He’s a billionaire, Bear. You’re not going to just break in and take what you want.”

“You know what they have on your father? Why they’d turn on him if he’s giving them valuable information, which, with those kinds of connections with the very wealthy of the world, he’s probably giving them some pretty damned good shit.”

“Something to do with money. I think they threatened to tell some of his contacts he’d been siphoning money from them or something. And no, I don’t know who or how or anything else. That was all I learned before they caught me. Just some vague notion of what was going on so I wouldn’t put much stock in it.”

“Good to know. Now, I need to go plan this thing with Rocket. We’ll get your personal phone and let Crush and Byte take over.”

“You don’t have to go get my phone, Bear. I can access it from the cloud.”

He blinked at me. “I beg your pardon?”

I blinked right back at him. “The cloud? Cyber storage? As in, uploaded to…?” He gave me a blank look that was also a dare for me to laugh, grin, or in any other way make fun of how old he was. I cleared my throat. “All right, then. How about you tell Crush. Sounds like he’ll know what to do from there.”

He gave me a disgruntled look. “I think I’m way the fuck too old for you.”

I gave him a fierce scowl, hoping like hell he thought I was teasing when I kind of really meant what I was about to say. “Doesn’t matter if you are or not. No take-backs. It’s a rule.”

That got him. He must have not been expecting me to say something like that because he let out a belly laugh before wrapping his arms tightly around me as he continued to chuckle. “No way, baby. No take-backs. I swear.”

Chapter Eight

Bear

“Well, she was right about one thing. If she’d managed to activate this application, whoever controls this thing would have been able to control every piece of electronic equipment we have connected to the network.” Crush had basically come back to the compound bare-ass naked and without the phone. “I took care of it but, I gotta tell ya, I’d love to get my hands on that tech for us.”
