“Nice. That deck wraps all the way around the back of the house. Look, they even built it around that big oak tree.”

“It’s like a treehouse,” she marveled, smiling up at him.

Wyatt dropped a kiss on her lips and hugged her close. “I think you may have found my dream home. Let’s keep looking.”

He toured through the large bathroom, marveling at the huge shower with multiple jets and the massive soaking tub that Lark eyed with envy. A door led into an oversized walk-in closet that could easily handle two extensive wardrobes for a couple.

Walking back into the bedroom, Wyatt approached a door. “I bet this is the attached small room you mentioned.”

He opened the door and flipped on the lights. She watched him brace his wide shoulders against the blue paint and hurried in behind him.

“Remember, a little paint can solve a lot of problems.”

Wyatt wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted Lark easily to stand in front of him with her back against his chest. He pulled her flush against his body and drew back her hair to press a kiss against her sensitive neck.

“Never. I’m never painting this room,” he vowed.

Lark glanced over the room. It was smaller but still large enough for a double bed and dresser or a crib and changing table with room for toys. The beautiful shade of light blue was welcoming. She would have loved having her bedroom that color as a child.

“You’d never know this room was even here from the outside of the house,” she commented.

“A completely private space for a Little girl.”

“Do you have children?” she asked, realizing she’d never asked him that question.

“I don’t. I don’t think that’s what this space was intended for,” he said softly.

“It’s not a child’s nursery?” Lark questioned, leaning to the side as she twisted to see his face.

“No. If I’m right, it was designed exactly for the purpose I’d wish it to be. It’s the perfect, private place for a Daddy to take care of his Little girl. A precious Little girl with huge blue eyes the same shade as this room.”

Something in his tone made her understand the capitals showcasing those words. Little girl. Daddy.

“You mean like Ellie and Daisy?”

“That’s exactly what I mean. I’ve been looking for my Little girl for a long time. I would love to have this room to take care of her—so close to Daddy and so private to protect her.”

A shiver went down her spine as his words reverberated inside her. Wyatt was a Daddy. She met his gaze and knew. He wanted her to be his Little.

“I’m not Little,” she pointed out.

“Are you sure?” he asked softly. “Tell me how this room makes you feel.”

“Not…” Her voice died away as Lark couldn’t force the word Little from her lips. There was something about this space that drew her. Standing here wrapped in Wyatt’s arms, her mind raced. Ellie had always hinted that she thought she and Lark had a lot in common. This wasn’t what she meant. Was it?

“Put an offer in for this house now.”

“Wyatt, you haven’t even seen the whole thing. There could be major problems with the heating and air conditioning,” she warned.

“The inspectors will catch that. This is my house. I’ll fix whatever needs repairing.”

Lark could already tell she wouldn’t be able to change his mind. Pulling out her phone, she asked, “What price do you want me to offer?”

“Full price. I’m not risking losing this place.”

Chapter Five

“Are you sure?” Lark asked Wyatt as they stepped into her office twenty minutes later. She pointed at the round table across from her desk where she often met with clients to discuss their needs before house hunting and to write up contracts. It would seem this afternoon she would be writing up an offer. Contrary to her normal habits, Lark closed the door after him.

“Yep. I’m sure,” Wyatt responded as he took a seat at the table.

“I had two other houses lined up for you to see this afternoon, and we could always expand our search if you wanted.”

He chuckled. She liked how his eyes danced as he met her gaze, making her nearly drop the paperwork she was carrying to the table. “Don’t worry, kitten. You’re still going to see me every day whether I buy this house or we look at ten more.” He winked.

She flushed. “I wasn’t thinking…” She was though. She totally was worried about not having a reason to see him if he didn’t need her to show him properties anymore.

He snagged her around the waist and pulled her between his legs. His hands landed on the backs of her thighs as he tipped his head back to meet her gaze.

Stunned, she forgot all about the papers. They slid from her hands to scatter all over the floor. Ignoring the mess, she held his gaze, unable to breathe. His fingers gripped her so close to her private parts that all she could think about was the tingling sensation between her legs and the crazy wish that he would touch her even more intimately.
