“Gotta warn you,” I growl, dragging my dick out before pushing it back in. “This ain’t goin’ to last long.”

“Ditto,” she mewls against my lips. “Just fuck me, Cade. You know how I like it.”

Damn her.

She’s so fucking perfect.

I give her what she asks for. I fuck her on the counter, driving my cock in and out of her until her screams fill the room. Her fingers clutch my back, her nails digging into my flesh as I fill her sweet cunt as hard as I can manage without finding my release too early. The moment she finds hers, her pussy clenching around me, her body shuddering, I know I can’t hold on anymore, I cum so hard my entire world spins.

Pleasure unlike anything I’ve ever felt tears up my spine as I release inside her.

By the time we both come down, we’re panting and lust filled.

Her eyes meet mine, and she grins. “Well god damn, that more than made up for your shitty comment.”

Leaning in, I kiss her. “Got somethin’ else that might help.”

“If you say you’re going to fuck me again, I’ll be pleased, but let me warn you, I’m about to collapse. I don’t think I can take any more orgasms.”

Chuckling, I pull back. “Believe me, I could go again, but I’ll wait until we get home. That’s not what I wanted to tell you.”

She wraps her arms around my neck. “I’m listening.”

“I want to find out what happened to Clara.”

Her eyes soften. “You do?”

Nodding, I rest my arms around her. “You were right, too fuckin’ proud to admit that I fucked up lettin’ her make that mistake. I was young and I was so god damned disappointed in her and hurt she chose Darth after everything we had been through as kids. It was a mistake I wish I never made.”

“There are two sides to every story,” she tells me, her eyes scanning my face. “I had no right to blame you entirely for what you did. I understand making the wrong choices out of hurt. You were young and you did what you thought right at the time. Whatever happens, it isn’t your fault. You both made mistakes, but in the end, you were right, Clara chose her path.”

Chest clenching, I stare down between us, an ache forming in my chest. If something has happened to Clara, I’m afraid it will fucking destroy me forever. That, in all truth, is part of the reason I kept it buried. Sometimes it’s easier to live without knowing. If she’s gone, I don’t know that I can forgive myself.

“I know what you’re thinking. You are worried that if something has happened to her that you’ll blame yourself, but you can’t do that. It isn’t on you, no matter what. Even if you stopped her that day, she would have found another way to go down the path she thought was right for herself. Trust me, nothing you could have said would have changed her mind.”

“If she’s dead, sugar ...”

She releases my neck, taking my face in her hands. “One step at a time, yeah? For right now, I think I should put my panties back on.”

Chuckling, I step back.

Yeah, that’s probably a damned good idea.

I’m an idiot.

I know it, and yet here I am, going to a location I know Cade would have my head for. The one rule with him finding Clara is that I wasn’t allowed to be involved. He might as well have told me I couldn’t breathe—it would be easier. Knowing we have a chance to find her, and knowing I can help, there is no way I can let it go.

So, I may or may not have snooped in Jackson’s office after I overheard them talking about finding the ‘stash’ location in the woods. I’m not going in, I just want to check it out. That’s if I can find it, the directions were sketchy at best, and from what I can gather they had to torture them out of some junkie who used to work with Marshall. Either way, I just want to see if I can find out anything about what’s going on in there.

Quickly in and out, looking from afar.

That’s it.

Trudging through the thick woods, I move beside a long, dense dirt road that leads to a large opening. There is nothing in the opening, though. Walking around, I can see tire tracks, but literally no sign on anyone else. For hours, I follow the path, but I see nothing. Not a single fucking thing.

I must be missing something.

This is where it said to go.

Maybe there was part of the instructions Jackson didn’t write down.

Still, the dirt road comes to an end and after the clearing, it narrows off into a track no vehicle would be able to fit. So, I go on foot, and that just leads me deeper and deeper into the woods. I’m not willing to risk going in farther and getting hurt, so, I turn around and begin the long trek back out. Frustrated, I can’t figure out what the hell I’m missing here.
