“I’m good.” To try to reassure him, I give him a smile. Jackson puts everything away. I start to slip off the counter, but he stops me. His hand comes down on both sides of my legs, caging me in. He leans in, his face getting closer to mine.

“Is there a problem with people knowing about us?”

“I don’t know,” I admit. His eyebrows rise. I can tell from his expression that he doesn’t care for my response. “I mean, you don’t even live here. If we’re a fling or whatever—”

“I came inside of you,” he says bluntly.

“Jackson!” I hiss, burying my face in his chest. He wraps his arm around me, keeping me pinned against him.

“Don’t call us a fling.”

I peek up at him. “Then what is this?”

“You’re mine.” I open my mouth to ask him what that fully means, but Abigail lets out an excited squeal. Jackson didn’t close the bathroom door. “Mom, can you give us a second?”

“No, food is done.” A smile lights up her whole face. Jackson’s hands go to my hips to pull me off the counter. Abigail grabs my hand to lead me away.

“Did I ever tell you I used to be a wedding planner when I was younger?” I glance over my shoulder at Jackson, who is smirking while shaking his head. Are we really talking about weddings right now?

This all seems too fast but right. Too bad I think I might still be engaged to another man.

JACKSON

"Give me your mouth, princess." Paisley's cheeks turn pink at my order. I have no fucking clue how she still blushes. It wasn't twenty minutes ago that I had her spread out on my kitchen island, eating her pussy while she moaned my name and almost pulled my hair out of my head. Paisley drops her head back, offering me her lips still.

I wrap my arm around her, pulling her into me as I claim her mouth. I don't give a fuck who sees us. Actually, part of why I'm doing this is because everyone can see. We're in the center of town, outside of the diner. I'm sure most people in town already know about us. Over the last week, I haven't been shy about my possessiveness of Paisley. The whole town should be well aware at this point. But just in case, I’ll continue to remind them every chance I get that Paisley is mine.

"Seriously?" June scoffs. "I was starving, and now I've lost my appetite."

Paisley giggles against my mouth. How the hell have I lived without that sound for so long?

"She's full of shit. June Bug is always hungry." My sister can out-eat me.

"I should go," Paisley says, knowing that my sister is waiting for her.

They're going to have an early dinner before Paisley has to work. I hate that bar. I have to drop her off there all the fucking time. I suppose I'm not dropping her off if I always hang around.

"I'll see you later." I let my hand slide down to give her ass a squeeze.

"You don't have to hang out at the bar all night. I'm sure you have other things to do."

"Told you, princess. I never do anything I don't want to. If I'm at the bar, it's because I want to be."

"If they're out of coconut key lime pie because you two can't keep your hands off each other—"

"I'm coming!" Paisley cuts her off, taking a step back from me.

My fingers itch to grab her and pull her to me again, but I keep it under control. If I had it my way, she’d be with me at all times, but I know that’s irrational. I need to get back home. Blu has been trying to get in touch with me. I keep telling him I’ll get back to him, planning to do so after Paisley falls asleep, but I can never manage to slip out of bed when she’s in it with me.

“Go on.” I nod for her to head for the sidewalk.

“I’ll miss you.” She says this as she passes by me. I grab the open passenger door to my truck so that I don’t try to stop her.

“Miss you too, princess.”

“Jesus, what have you done to my brother? He’s a mushy goober now.” June may act as though she’s grossed out, but I know she’s loving every damn second of this.

“He is not.” Paisley is eager to defend me. I watch the two of them disappear into the diner, but not before my princess glances over her shoulder to give me one last look before she’s gone.

I slam the truck door before heading over to the driver's side. It doesn’t take me long to get home. I find Tigger stretched out across my desk. Half of his body is on top of my keyboard.

It makes me smile. He is one of the many things inside my home that has Paisley’s touch on it now. Slowly she has added a few things around the house. Her clothes are put away in my closet. That one might be on me. I was sick of seeing the suitcases packed.
