Bane uses the club as his own personal business front. Hosting meetings, parties, all sorts of wicked things.

Lazarus nods in a silent command, his abrupt turn signaling for Posey to trail behind him. With a quick nod, she gracefully rises from the plush confines of the couch, her gaze briefly lowering before obediently following him out of the room.

Once they leave, the room tenses. I turn to Dean, demanding answers about the incident. Adele's firsthand account is no help, and Hector and his men have no leads.

"Frustrating," Dean mutters.

However, I’m left wondering about the woman who just left. Posey. She’s like a breath of fresh air in a swirling dust storm, a welcome respite amidst all the chaos. I need to learn everything I can about her, after figuring out who attacked her and why.

And then I’ll make them pay.

Chapter 1

Ledger

Present Day

And then I’d slam my hard cock deep inside her, asking if she’s a good girl just for me. Posey would look up at me with those sweet doe-eyes, and moan yes, her ruby-red lips parting slightly.

I bet she’d moan so good.

I can picture it all. The way her soft skin would feel underneath my rough hands. How her long brown hair would look wrapped around my fist. Those baby blues gazing up at me.

And those lips.

Fuck. Those full lips painted with bright red lipstick. I’d love to see that color all over my hard—

“Ledger?” Adele says as she barges into my office. “I tried texting you, but you never responded.” Her heels clack across the tiled floor, squashing my thoughts of Posey Dixon with each step she takes toward my desk.

“Sorry, I have a lot on my mind. What do you need?” I sit upright in my chair, running my fingers through my cropped-dark hair, willing my body to cool down.

Adele raises a perfectly arched brow. “The Delgados are renting out two rooms again, and they specifically requested you to…well…babysit, if you will.”

I stand from my desk, my blood turning to ice at the mention of the Delgados. “Babysit who?”

“Posey Dixon.”

“Why would she come here after being attacked? Is Bane crazy?” He probably is. A man like Bane Delgado doesn’t evade criminal charges like he does if he doesn’t have a little crazy going on.

Adele shrugs. “I’m not sure, but they’re organizing a big meeting. Top officials and politicians will be there tonight.”

I rub my chin. “Without Bane?” I know Bane’s still on house arrest awaiting trial for some extortion case. I’m sure the case will get dropped. Like they all do.

“Bane specifically requested you watch her.”

I shake my head. “He’s too busy to watch her himself? Lots of things to do on house arrest?”

Adele shrugs again. “I don’t pretend to know what goes on at Bane’s complex. It’s not my job to question important clients. I just bend over backward to accommodate them.”

I raise a brow. “Oh?”

Adele hits me with an admonishing stare. “Oh, you know what I mean. I’d never actually bend over for anyone here.”

I crack a grin. “Right,” I say, knowing full well Adele would never jeopardize her position here at Club Greed. I nod. “You’d think Bane wouldn’t want her here,” I continue our earlier convo.

“You’d think.” Adele taps at her iPad. “They’ll be here soon.” And then she waltzes out of my office.

Once again, thoughts of Posey consume my mind.

Which is ridiculous, because I’ve only met her once, and I haven’t seen her since the attack. I gave her my number and told her to call if she remembered anything. She never did.

I leave the office and head down to the bar area to see how everything’s going for the evening.

“Ledger Thorne,” Gloria Suarez whines, placing her red-tipped nails on the lapel of my suit coat. “I’m so happy you are here. I missed you.”

“Mrs. Suarez.” I keep my tone professional, even though I want to run away from her. “So happy you’re here.” I’m not. “Where’s Tony?”

She sidles up closer, her politician husband nowhere in sight. “Don’t worry about him right now.”

I clear my throat. “I hope the both of you are enjoying your evening.”

Her hand glides up and down my arm. “We are. It would be more fun—”

My cell phone cuts her words off, pinging with a text message in my pocket.

“I have to get this.” I retrieve my phone from my pants pocket and read the text from an unknown number.

It’s obvious she wants you.

I glance around the club, looking for Gloria’s husband, but he’s still not around.

My fingers fly over the keyboard.

Who is this?

My heart trips over itself at the reply.

Posey.

Chapter 2

Posey

Have you ever seen a man so gorgeous that he sucks all the life out of any room he occupies?

Everywhere I look in Club Greed, I see wealthy individuals. Men in nice suits, women in flashy gowns. Beautiful people. There’s power. There’s sexual appeal. But no one, and I mean no one, has the raw charisma that Ledger Thorne possesses.
