“Oh no—of course not!” Torri slid over a little to make room for him and patted the mattress beside her. “I was hoping you’d come to bed soon,” she added. “I mean, not because I wanted you, uh, in bed beside me—although I really don’t mind it. Just because you’re so big and warm and it’s cold in here,” she finished rather lamely.

“I’ll be happy to give you some of my body heat, if you need it,” Vic offered, sliding into bed beside her. “Would you like to come closer so that I can warm you?” he added, holding out a muscular arm invitingly.

“I would love to,” Torri answered gratefully.

She slid under his arm and pillowed her cheek on his broad chest, though she was careful not to press her breasts against him. She didn’t want to seem too forward—like she was coming on to him.

But Vic seemed to want her closer. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her against his side.

“Is this all right?” he asked, looking down at her. “I was afraid you wouldn’t get warm enough the other way.”

“It’s fine. I mean, as long as you don’t mind the way we’re, er, pressed together.” Torri could feel her breasts pressing against his side, her nipples tight rubbing against his chest.

“Not at all. In fact, I like the feeling of your body against mine,” Vic rumbled. “I hope that doesn’t make you uncomfortable,” he added, looking down at her a bit anxiously.

“No. No, not at all,” Torri assured him. “I, um, like the feeling of your body against mine, too. You’re really big and warm and you smell really good,” she said, wiggling against him. “I hope you don’t mind me saying that.”

“I don’t mind.” Vic turned towards her, so that they were chest-to-to chest. “This is new for me, but extremely pleasurable.”

“I find it, uh, pleasurable too,” Torri admitted, biting her lip. “I mean, it’s just been a really long time since I’ve had a man hold me.”

“At least three months, since that is how long you were in the facility,” Vic remarked.

“Longer than that.” Torri sighed. “Even before I started having the night terrors and wound up in St. Elizabeth’s, Chuck and I hadn’t, well, you know in a long time.”

“No, I don’t know.” He frowned at her curiously. “Forgive me if I don’t always get the nuances of your language—I haven’t spoken it very long.”

“Of, of course. Well, I meant to say we hadn’t, er, made love in a long time,” Torri explained. “But it wasn’t just that—he wouldn’t even cuddle me anymore.”

“Cuddle?” Vic asked.

“He wouldn’t get close to me—hold me like you are now,” she explained. “At the time, I thought he just didn’t find me attractive anymore. Now I know he was saving everything for his secretary.” She made a face.

“How could he not find you attractive when you’re so beautiful it makes me ache just to look at you?” Vic murmured. He cupped her cheek and tilted her chin up so their eyes met and held. “If I had a female like you, I would never mistreat her the way your mate mistreated you. You ought to be pleasured and cherished every day, sweetheart.” His voice was a soft, deep rumble and his blue eyes were half-lidded as he spoke.

“Well…thank you,” Torri murmured breathlessly. Her heart was suddenly pounding as she met his eyes—which were focused intently on her face. “But you don’t have to say that just to make me feel better,” she added.

“I’m not just giving you idle compliments,” Vic rumbled. “I have never felt for another female as I feel when I am with you, Torri.” He shifted restlessly. “You cause me to have…so many emotions—feelings I have never felt before.”

“You mean you’ve never been in love? Had a girlfriend?” Torri asked. “I mean, not that we’re falling in love or I’m your girlfriend or anything,” she added quickly. “I just mean, well…have you ever been with a woman at all?”

Vic shook his head.

“And I have never wanted to—until I met you. My only function in life is to scout hostile planets for the Kindred—I didn’t believe I was built for anything else. But now…I wonder.”

“What do you wonder?” Torri’s heart was still pounding.

Vic looked at her, his deep blue eyes heavy-lidded.

“I wonder what it would be like to touch a woman,” he rumbled softly. As he spoke, he skimmed his fingertips lightly along her shoulder and down her arm, giving her chill bumps. “To stroke her body…to kiss her lips…to pleasure her until she moans my name…”

“Oh…” Torri bit her lip and wiggled against him. God, hearing him say those things while he looked into her eyes was really turning her on! Her nipples were tight little points at the tips of her breasts and her pussy felt wet and hot and swollen.
