CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE

Delia

Satiated, I roll onto my back and close my eyes. “Have you ever fucked someone so hard that they couldn’t walk afterward?”

Silence fills Donovan’s bedroom.

It’s so quiet that I force one of my eyelids open to see if he passed out next to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. The man fucks with so much power that it has to take everything out of him.

His hands are resting on his face but his chest is clearly moving. He’s breathing heavily. “You. Try and get up, Delia. I bet you another orgasm that your knees are weak.”

“I might as well blow you now.”

That generates a series of low chuckles from him. “Did I just win the bet?”

“You know what you do to me.” I slap his bare chest as my gaze wanders to his semi-hard dick. “You’re like a fucking machine. To clarify I mean you’re a machine when it comes to fucking.”

His hands separate to give me a clear view at his eyes. “If you’re satisfied with what I do in bed, I don’t give a shit how what you call it.”

“Perfection?” I smile, knowing he can see it. “Addictive?”

He moves both hands until they are resting on his chest. “Are you addicted to me?”

I am, and it’s so much more than the sex.

I’m addicted to his laughter, and the way his eyes light up when he’s talking to me. I’m addicted to the sound of his voice and the way he looks at me.

“Yes,” I whisper. “I am.”

“We’re even then.” He stares into my eyes. “I’m so addicted to you.”

My heart thunders inside my chest. I have to take a breath but it does little to calm it.

He rolls to his side, his hand reaching out to me. His index finger trails down my chest until it stops between my breasts. “I’m grateful, Delia, for this.”

“This?” I cup my left breast.

He lowers his head to briefly take my nipple between his teeth. A light bite is enough to lure a groan from me.

“That hurt,” I complain but there’s no weight behind it.

“You liked it.”

I nod. “I did.”

He does it again before he follows it with a soft lick. “Don’t get me wrong. I’m grateful for your tits, and your pussy and that beautiful ass of yours, but that’s not what I was talking about.”

I sense that but I need and want to hear it straight from his lips. “What are you grateful for, Donovan?”

“That you’re a part of my life,” he explains, his gaze stuck on mine. “That we’re going to have a child together.”

“A wonderful child.”

“So wonderful,” he agrees. “You’re going to be a phenomenal mother, Delia.”

That hits me so hard that tears instantly well in my eyes. “I hope so.”

He brushes them away with a soft swipe of his fingers over my cheeks. “I know so. You’re the most remarkable person I’ve ever known.”

I should point out that we met less than two months ago, but I don’t. Instead, I take the compliment with the same grace in which it was offered.

“We’ll make a great team,” I say. “A great parenting team.”

He swallows hard, but only agrees with a nod.

The past twenty-four hours have been filled with so much emotion for me. I sense it’s been the same for him.

“Should we sleep now?” I ask as I inch closer to him.

He pats his chest. “Use me as a pillow.”

I rest my head against him, relishing in the scent of his cologne and the masculine smell of his skin. “Goodnight, Donovan.”

He strokes my head softly. “Goodnight, my Delia. I’ll see you in your dreams.”

I walk into Wolf Candy wearing one of the signature shirts that Nikita designed and a smile that could light up New York on a stormy night.

“Someone got laid,” she says. “I wish it was me, but…”

“But you’re happy for me?” I question.

“More like jealous,” she jokes. “It’s been awhile for me, Delia. My pussy has cock amnesia.”

I laugh so hard that I almost drop the coffee cup in my left hand.

She rushes over to grab it from me. “I desperately need this today. This one is mine, right?”

Since it’s the larger of the two cups I’m holding, I smile. “It makes you seem greedy when you take the big one.”

“I could say the same for you.” She grins. “It was a big one, wasn’t it? I mean I smile when I get fucked, but never like that unless he’s packing something serious in his pants.”

“Oh, he is.” I nod.

She sips from her cup. “Are we talking about Donovan? Is that still going on?”

I scratch my neck. “Maybe?”

“Is that code for yes?”

I shrug. “It might be.”

“Why are you being coy?” She glances at my cup. “And why are you drinking herbal tea?”

I curse inwardly. I was going to toss the tea bag in the trash at the café after it had time to steep, but it slipped my mind when I noticed Matthew was texting me. Fortunately, all he wanted was to wish me a good day. I returned the sentiment in a text of my home with a happy face emoji attached to it.
