“The what, what the fuck are you talking about?”
“Your girlfriend.”
“Uh, that would be you, nutcase.”
“No, it’s that Mandy bitch, the one you were screwing before I showed up here, the one you said you were through with. The one you were with last night.”
“Where the fuck did you hear that bullshit?” What the fuck? I was with her last night until I took her home around dinnertime.
Then I went home and had dinner with my family, did some reading, called her to say goodnight and went to bed.
“From the source, she’s been telling everybody about it.” She got out from under my arm and stalked off.
“Get your little ass back here before I spank you right here in this parking lot.” She stopped short because she knew I wasn’t bullshitting, but she didn’t turn around.
“I said back here, now.” She gave me the stink eye, but flounced back to stand in front of me. I wanted to pull every hair out of my fucking head by the roots.
If she hadn’t been so hardheaded, we wouldn’t be here now. She only thought she could deal with the likes of Mandy, she had no idea.
Mandy wasn’t your average high school kid, the girl was fed ambition in her breast milk. The only difference between her and I was that my family had scruples where hers had none.
She was all about getting whatever she could out of people, by any means necessary. I was more of the opposite, which is why Sian is the girl for me.
She’s got the kind of heart I’m looking for, kind and compassionate, with a streak of fire. Too bad that dam fire was causing me so much grief here lately.
If I could only get her to settle her little ass down and stay out of this shit until I take care of it, we’ll be good as gold.
“Listen you, I don’t know what the fuck that idiot is saying and I don’t really give much of a fuck.
I do care that instead of coming to me with this shit, you decided to unman me in front of the whole school, by flirting with those assholes. Now I’m gonna have to break Stanley’s fucking face for looking at your ass.”
“He can look if he wants to, if you think I’m going to stand around while you cheat on me with that viper, then you’ve got another think coming.”
“Sian, for the last time, I’m in love with you. If I wanted Mandy I wouldn’t have broken up with her stupid ass in the first place, what the fuck is so hard to understand?
Why do you women do this shit, can you not think for yourself? You hear some shit and just run with it? I thought you had more fucking sense than that. Now get the fuck in the truck before I beat your ass for real.”
This girl has a head like a rock. She stood there glaring at me ready for battle. I think dad was right, he’d told me only a day or so ago, that Sian would be the one person in this life who would drive me to the brink of murder.
“SIAN, get in the fucking truck!”
She jumped and opened the door after I hit the lock.
She fumed the whole way, but I didn’t care. If she was pissed I was doubly so.
No matter how this shit turned out she was going to learn that she must never pull a stunt like this again. Fucking flirting.
“Where are we going? I want to go back to school.” Whatever happened to the girl who was still trying to get her bearings? Where the fuck was she at?
“Yeah, well, you’re going home with me, seems I have to re-stake my claim since you’ve lost your damn mind.”
“If you touch me with that thing I’ll chop it off, and to think I gave you my virginity.
If I’d known you were such a prick I would’ve fucked someone...”
I slammed my foot down on the brakes and hopped out of the car. I didn’t go near her, no, I’d break her fucking neck if I got within two feet of her.
Instead, I walked around outside to let off some steam. She came bounding out of the truck two minutes later.
“Get back in there unless you want to feel my wrath.” I don’t know what she saw in my eyes, but whatever it was it had her making tracks back to the jeep.
Fuck, I need to bottle that shit. Damn, only sixty or seventy more years of her crazy ass. I can hack it.
When I was calm enough after erasing the image of some other dude with her from my head, I went back to the truck.
I sat there for a minute not trusting myself to say anything at first. “If you ever say anything like that to me again, I’ll make you regret the day you were born.”
I finally looked at her then and she looked scared, like she’d finally realized she’d gone too fucking far.
Good, maybe now she’d stop her shit and we could get back to normal, instead of starring in the fucking Mandy show.
“Now, you wanna tell me what the fuck that idiot said that makes you believe that I’m cheating on you?”
Chapter 10
SIAN
I think I might’ve bitten off just a tiny bit more than I can chew here. I’ve seen Jace upset before, but this was a whole new level of crazy for him.
Granted, everything he said was true, he has been telling me to stay out of the conflict with Mandy and let him handle it, but that was easier said than done.
He didn’t have to share a classroom with her, or put his life in her hands doing jumps and flies off her damn shoulders.
I wasn’t half as mad as I had been anymore, since my anger now paled in comparison to his.
“She’s been texting a picture around school, I don’t know how many people have seen it by now, but it’s embarrassing and humiliating and the kind of thing that makes people do stupid things.”
