I hate to admit it, but I kinda like this guy. I’m rooting for him now.

We spent a few hours in the car and it was fun. We were all talking, laughing, and telling old stories. It felt like being around family. I’ve missed that.

Nathan and Colin disappear into their room and we’re all alone for the first time today. My inner wolf whimpers and whines as he paces around, desperate for me to claim her. If it were up to him, he’d make me throw her over my shoulder, carry her to my room, and shred her clothes to pieces. Mmmmmm, maybe I should listen to the old dog…

“I’m going to freshen up,” she says as she leans in close and teases me with those luscious lips. “Then you can take me out to that Italian restaurant. It’s in front of a car wash, so you know it’s classy.”

She runs her finger along my chin as she walks to her door with a flirty grin.

I’m dying for her as I watch those sexy hips swaying with every step. My blood is boiling. I wish I could fast forward through the dinner to get to the sweet dessert I know is waiting for me.

She shoots me a sexy look and then closes the door.

My legs buckle. I nearly collapse.

Go after her, my wolf snarls at me. I can sense what he wants even if he can’t say the words.

“I want her too,” I mutter as I shuffle over to my door, which is across from hers. “But I can’t exactly just go hump her leg like you would. We’re humans, not dogs. Women require some wining and dining first.”

I head into my room more desperate for her than ever.

I’ve never seen such a stunning sight as my mate bathed in candlelight while dressed up in a stunning flowery dress. I’m in awe as we sit at the dinner table in a quiet corner of the Italian restaurant.

Soft romantic music is playing, the bottle of red is half-empty, and my sweet girl has a flush of color in her cheeks as she talks.

It’s hard to focus on her words when she’s looking like that. I’m in awe of her. I’m so taken with this girl. I still can’t believe she’s my mate.

Even my wolf is mesmerized by her. I can feel him inside, watching her protectively. If there was a threat to her life, I know he wouldn’t hesitate to burst out of me and eliminate it with deadly force. There’s nothing either of us wouldn’t do to keep this beauty safe.

I’m getting a glimpse of the real Adalynn. The Adalynn when her brother isn’t around and worrying her to death.

She’s fun and silly and doesn’t take everything so seriously. I know that we’re going to get along just fine. I can picture us laughing and joking around as we get older and grayer. I can’t wait.

“So, what color is your wolf?” she asks with a sly smile.

I sit back and grin as I watch her. “You’ll have to stick around to find out.”

Her eyes never leave mine. “Oh, I will.”

I’m falling hard. There’s no stopping it.

The gentle glow of the flickering candlelight is casting soft shadows on her beautiful face, giving her an air of enchantment. She has a magical hypnotic beauty about her and I’m entranced.

It’s the way she smiles, the way her brown eyes sparkle in the candlelight, the way her hair falls so perfectly around her face. It’s a million other tiny things about her that no one else would notice, but I do. I’m noticing it all. Memorizing it all, admiring it all, cherishing it all—the way her lips curl up when she takes a sip of wine, the way she sits on the edge of her seat so she can be a little bit closer to me, the way she looks up at the ceiling before she says the perfect thing.

“So,” she says, licking her lips before she takes another sip of wine. “Brown? Black?”

“That’s like asking me the length of my… arm.”

She giggles as her cheeks flush an adorable shade of pink. “That was going to be my next question.”

“Oh, really?” I ask, leaning forward with a wolfish grin. “You want to know all the good stuff up front, don’t you? It doesn’t work like dat, ma chérie. But stick around and you’ll find all of it out. I promise you dat.”

My obsession with this girl is running deep. It’s a part of me now, woven into the very fabric of my being. It’s going to change everything. My obsession with this beauty will color every thought, decision, and action I take. It’s a powerful force that now drives me, a passion that consumes me, and a fire that burns deep within my soul.

And I’d have it no other way. It might seem like madness to anyone who hasn’t experienced the pull of a mate, but to me, it’s the very essence of life. It’s my meaning. It’s the reason I was put on this earth.
