It didn’t matter how quiet I was, because I was pretty sure Shawn would be zonked out now for at least eight hours even if an elephant trampled through the room. I let out a long breath and tugged my pants and shirt back on in the chilly night air. I looked one more time at him all cozy under the covers before leaving.

Shawn had kicked loose a frenzy in my mind that felt like a newly freed tiger, and I was pretty sure there was no getting that wild animal back in its cage.

And, even scarier? I didn’t think I wanted to put it back in its cage.

SHAWN

When I walked into Rush’s house ready for a day of pulling down kitchen cabinets, the place smelled like my version of heaven: coffee, the faint smell of fresh-cut wood, and a hint of Rush’s scent.

“I think I just entered paradise,” I called out into his house, not seeing him right away.

I’d also woken up horny. Very horny, after many dreams involving Rush. Hell, I swore I had a half-chub just from walking into his house, and at this point, I wasn’t afraid to acknowledge it.

Rush appeared in the kitchen as I walked in, looking fresh, clean, and actually ready to start the day at eight in the morning.

“Wow, you look bright-eyed,” I said, making no effort to hide that I was looking him up and down and enjoying the view.

It had been a few days since I’d last seen him, when he’d dropped me off at my house and I’d been so slumped tired I’d barely been able to keep myself upright. Nathan and I had been doing various tasks at Rush’s house, but as usual, he’d been so busy with brewery stuff that we’d been like two ships passing in the night.

Busy, busy, busy. I was starting to get sick of how busy we both were, even if it meant we were successful.

He gave me a polite smile. “Did you see what’s on the dining table?”

I looked over to the sticker-covered table and saw not one but three pink doughnut boxes, two iced coffees from River Brews, and two hot coffees as well, in paper cups.

“I really am in heaven,” I said. “Wow.”

“I have to leave for the brewery soon, actually, but I wanted to repay the favor from when you brought me coffee and doughnuts,” Rush said. “Wasn’t sure if you were in a cold brew mood or a hot kind of mood.”

“I’m always in a ‘hot kind of mood,’ around you,” I said. “You’re heading to the brewery this early?”

He nodded. “Meeting a potential new yeast and fermentation consultant. If she’s good, I want to try to hire her full time.”

“Oh,” I said. “Is that why you seem a little nervous this morning? Interview jitters, even though you’re the one interviewing?”

He cocked his head to one side. “Nervous? I’m not nervous,” he said, but even then, I could tell his expression was different than normal. He was lacking the dick-swagger bravado he usually had, especially around me.

Almost like he didn’t know how to act around me. What the hell had changed?

Usually he’d be making dirty jokes as often as he could, or flirting his ass off within two seconds of me coming over.

I turned back to Rush, running my hand down the front of his nice black collared shirt. “You think you have a few minutes for a blow job before you leave?”

“Damn,” Rush said. “Is this the real reason why Fixer Brothers is so successful? A free blow job with every kitchen remodel?”

I shrugged one shoulder. “You got me coffee and doughnuts. It’s the least I can do.”

“It’s no big deal,” Rush said. “Really. Also, how chilly is it out there this morning? Do you think I’ll need a jacket?”

I slowly wrapped my hands around his waist, pulling him a little closer to me.

“Come on,” I murmured, leaning in close to his ear. “Quit pretending you want to have small talk with me and let me suck the cum out of you before I do my job here today.”

I felt him let out a satisfied sigh, and as I pulled him close up against the front of my body, I also felt that he was well on his way from half-chub to hard, too.

He was enjoying this, as much as I was, but his usual flirty banter was just nowhere to be found.

Had I entered some sort of bizarro-world?

An upside-down universe where Rush didn’t know how to flirt anymore?

“You don’t have to act like some kind of sex object, Shawn,” he said. “You know I respect you as a person, right? You don’t have to blow me.”

“You can take off your pants, if you want to,” I said softly, pressing a little kiss to the side of his neck.
