“I’m going to fucking kill him.”

The words came from Landon. When I turned to see him, he had his pants on but his shirt was still off.

Hailey quickly stood up and faced her brother. “No, you’re not, Landon. He doesn’t know I know.”

“He’s going to find out when he talks to her, and she says something about speaking with him,” I said.

Hailey shook her head. “I have his phone. He thinks he lost it since he can’t find it anywhere.”

“That motherfucker,” Landon said. “Let me pound my fists into him, Hail. Please.”

With a weak smile, Hailey walked over to Landon and reached up to kiss him on the cheek. “I cock-blocked y’all again, didn’t I?”

I shook my head and quickly replied, “No.”

“Yes,” Landon said at the same time.

With a roll of my eyes, I made my way over to Hailey who was now face-down on my sofa. “Sweetie, let me go get dressed. Landon, make her something strong to drink, and we’ll all figure out how to get that asshole back.”

Hailey rolled over and looked up at me. “God, I love you so much. You just get me.”

With a nod, I replied, “Well, we are like sisters, and that’s what I would want to do if someone cheated on me. After I paid someone to cut his dick off, of course.”

“Ouch,” Landon said, covering his junk.

“Get me something strong, Landon,” Hailey said.

Landon jumped to action. “Um, right. Something strong.”

As he made his way over to my bar cart, I rushed into my bedroom and quickly pulled on some clothes and fixed my ponytail that had come a bit undone.

I walked back into the living room to see Landon handing Hailey a glass of what looked like whiskey. “What are you going to do?” he asked her.

I walked over and handed him his shirt. He slipped it on and said thank you, and then we both sat down on the love seat opposite the sofa.

Hailey downed her drink. Landon and I stared at her in shock.

“Christ, Hail. That was straight whiskey,” Landon said with a slight chuckle.

She nodded and wiped her mouth before she placed the glass—which had had at least three shots of whiskey in it—down onto the table.

“Mom invited us to have dinner with her tonight. I’m going to need you two to come as well.”

Landon and I exchanged a look that said a million things. Would we ever catch a break?

I brought my attention back to Hailey, who was still wiping at tears that wouldn’t seem to stop.

“Or course we’ll be there,” I said, wrapping my fingers around Landon’s. He nodded, but I could see the disappointment on his face.

“Then what are you going to do?” he asked.

“Then I’m going to pull out Mike’s phone, put it on speaker, and call the bitch.”

My mouth fell open as I asked, “In front of everyone?”

An evil smile spread over Hailey’s face. “Yep. But I’m going to time it right when I get Mike to say something so she’ll start speaking.”

“Dad will kill him, Hail,” Landon warned.

If it was at all possible, she smiled even wider. Her look turned from evil to downright frightening. “I know. It’s going to be glorious.”

Landon

FROM ACROSS THE large dining table at my folks’ house, I looked into my sister’s eyes. They were clear, with no signs of the crying she had done only hours ago. I swung my gaze over to Mike. He was talking to my father, oblivious to how dangerously close he was to having my hands around his neck.

I felt Emmerson’s hand on my leg, and I slightly relaxed.

“You’re glaring at him, Landon,” she whispered, her hot breath causing my dick to jump in my pants. That wasn’t anything new when it came to this woman I’d known my whole life, but after having a taste of her and coming so close to more, I was still on edge.

“Emmerson, we need to talk about the engagement party,” Hailey said from across the table.

Emmerson casually removed her hand from my leg and smiled. “Autumn said she’d like to rent out the barn that’s on the McNally’s ranch. It’s a beautiful place. I’ve actually had a client get married there, and it would make for a great venue for the party.”

Hailey smiled as if the news made her day. My sister could go up against any top actress in Hollywood with the performance she was putting on tonight. Mike had glanced over to Hailey and smiled, as if the idea of having the engagement party made him just as happy. Although, I had a feeling my mother sensed something wasn’t right. Addie Lewis could always tell when one of her kids were hurting. It was weird.

“How has the wedding planning been going, ladies?” my mother asked, looking directly at Hailey.

Another brilliant smile lit up my sister’s face, and this time Mike took her hand in his and kissed the back of it. Was that…was that guilt in his eyes? Regret, maybe? The fucker. I wanted to jump across the goddamn table and pound his face with my fist.
