“I…I don’t know.” Danielle’s face looked pale and uncomfortable in the pulsing pink light. “Because some men don’t…don’t like that, you know?”

“You mean human men?” Brav couldn’t keep the contempt out of his voice.

He had heard that some human males were reluctant to taste their females, but he had no idea why, other than the fact that they clearly didn’t put their female’s pleasure first. Because how could a male not want to taste his female’s pussy and hear her moans and cries as he made her come with his tongue? It was a mystery that eluded Brav—he put it down to the fact that human males were stupid in general.

“Yes, human men,” Danielle said stiffly. “Though I have, er, heard that Kindred males are different,” she added, giving him a sideways glance.

“A hell of a lot different in this case, little girl,” Brav assured her, letting a soft growl of desire enter his tone. “But I understand if we need to, er, work up to it some,” he added, seeing the uncertain look still on her face.

Tasting a female was one of the greatest pleasures in life, but it had to be done the right way, he thought. Most females needed to be warmed up a bit before they were ready to let a male in and allow themselves to be vulnerable in such an intimate way.

“Listen,” he said to Navii. “I understand what the Mother Stone wants me to do and I’m fucking eager to do it. But Danielle needs to be warmed up a little first. I can’t just, uh, dive right in, if you know what I mean.”

Navii smiled.

“Of course, friend Bravik! Simply tap the form the sand has made for you and think of what you need. The Mother Stone will shift the sand into what you ask for. Go on…” She made a gesture towards the sand chair. “Try it.”

“Uh, okay…” Awkwardly, Brav tapped the top of the sand chair—which felt surprisingly soft—and muttered, “Couch please,” under his breath.

At once, the sands shifted again, once more becoming a loveseat built to accommodate a couple.

“There you are.” Navii smiled at them. “Now, friend Bravik, you can help the Mother Stone to heal your lovely wife.”

“Um…but how will I know when she’s healed?” Brav asked, frowning. He was more than happy to go down on Danielle and eat her sweet little pussy all night but he wasn’t sure it would be safe to be so close to the huge alien radiation source for that long.

“For a deep affliction, it may take more than one healing,” Navii told them. “But we generally only spend a standard hour or two a night in the Adoration of the Mother Stone. If we spend more, it is too difficult to leave each other and do our duties the next day.”

Brav remembered his difficulty parting from Danielle that morning and understood. The Mother Stone was kind of a bonding agent—its power drew couples together almost like the soul-bond the Kindred formed with their mates.

If only I could bond her to me, he thought, looking down at Danielle, who was looking up at him with wide eyes. But since he couldn’t, he could at least enjoy this time with her and try to give her as much pleasure as he could.

“I understand,” he said, nodding. “Thank you, Navii.”

“You are most welcome, Friend Bravik,” the H’raken woman murmured. She smiled at him and at Danielle. “Be well and heal each other. I shall see you at the close of the Adoration.”

Then she glided away silently, over the sands.

Bravik watched her go and then turned back to Danielle, who was nibbling her lower lip and shifting from foot to foot uneasily.

“Well, little girl—” he started.

“You don’t have to do this!” she blurted. “I mean, if you don’t want to. We’re far enough from the other couples that I’m sure we can just fake it and the H’rakens will never know.”

“Why would we want to fake it?” Brav was honestly mystified. “And even if the H’rakens don’t know, I’m betting the Mother Stone will,” he added, nodding at the pulsing pink monolith only a few standard meters away from them.

“I…I don’t know.” Danielle, who was usually so assertive was suddenly blushing and looking down at her feet.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Brav tugged gently at her hand. “Come on—let’s sit down and talk about it.”

“Okay.” Still not looking at him, Danielle took a seat on the couch the sand had formed and Brav sat beside her.

To his surprise, it didn’t feel like sand at all—it was as soft and cushiony as any real couch he had ever sat on. It was also supportive and the grains of sand didn’t stick to his skin or clothes—they seemed to have some kind of invisible field around them, keeping them all in place.
