I nodded, my cheeks heating and no doubt flaming red.

I didn’t know what to say. There were so many emotions swirling in my head. It had been incredible. It had been the most passionate thing I’d ever experienced. And I’d never felt so close to someone in my entire life as I had with Locke.

He’d given me a night that I would never forget. But at the same time, I felt horrible. We’d crossed a line. And now, how did we go back? What if Locke realized it was all a mistake and would now keep his distance from me? What if I lost him being in my life? All because of one night.

“It’s… complicated,” I finally answered.

Fiora rolled her eyes as she made her way to the kitchen, turning on the coffeepot. “Stop saying that. Of course it’s complicated. But who the fuck cares? Enjoy the ride.”

I shook my head, sighing as I dropped into the kitchen chair. The events of last night were already beginning to fade into the distance. It was like Locke had given me a wonderful dream, but now I had to wake up to my real boring life. “I think the ride has to stop here. It has potential to get really messy.”

“Messy can be fun.” Fiora reached for two coffee mugs and leaned up against the counter as the coffee brewed.

Wanting to change the subject, I asked, “Are you going to work the event tonight at Olympus Manor?”

Fiora shook her head. “I’m exhausted from last night. I don’t feel up to being on my feet all night, serving rich men expensive drinks. I got enough money to pass on this one. You?”

“Yeah, I’m going to work it.” Much to Locke’s dismay, I was sure. He was under the belief I was coming home to rest.

We sat in a comfortable silence, sipping our coffee, until Fiora cleared her throat. “So, are you going to tell me what happened with you and Locke? I want the dirty details.”

“I…” I trailed off, looking down into my coffee cup.

I still didn’t know how I was going to explain what had happened. I wanted to say it was a mistake, but the more I thought about it, the more I knew it was the only thing that made sense. It was like when you went on a roller coaster, and you thought it would be scary and thrilling. But in the end, it was a lot of fun, and you laughed at how scared you were.

This was the same way. Had I crossed a line? Absolutely. But it was a line I had been ready to cross for a long time. It felt so right and so liberating.

“He’s really dominating,” I finally said.

Fiora smirked. “I think that is a given. I’ve seen him around you. He plays the sexy daddy vibes perfectly.”

Hearing the word ‘daddy’ in the same sentence as Locke creeped me out, considering his relationship to my actual father. “Don’t call him that.”

“Why? It’s sexy as fuck.”

I let out a frustrated sigh. “Because it makes him sound old.”

“He is old.”

“Fiora! You aren’t helping with all the fucked-up emotions going on in my head.”

“Fine. Sorry. I’ll lay off the daddy talk.” She leaned forward, her eyes sparkling. “So… what was it like?”

“It was… I don’t know. Incredible? I don’t know what I was expecting. It was just so different than anything I’ve ever felt. When Locke took control, he just… knew what I needed. And I feel so close to him that it just made it all more intense. I mean, it was like I was in his head, and he could read my mind. Or maybe our minds just work together. I don’t know. It just seems so natural. And now I feel like I’m going to lose him. I don’t have any idea how to go back to being his family friend. Even though I know I should, I don’t want to.”

Fiora smiled. “Then don’t go back to being his family friend. Be his lover.”

“It’s not that simple.”

“I don’t know Locke well. But the one thing I do know about him is he is a man who likes to be in control. My guess,” Fiora paused as she took a sip of her coffee. “He’s not going to let you make the decision for him. I think he’s going to take over and decide for both of you.”

Chapter 25

Locke

I should have forbidden her to work the party tonight. Not that Storee would have listened to me, but if I’d insisted at all cost, at least I wouldn’t be standing here in Olympus Manor feeling as if I wanted to rip the eyeballs out of every man who was watching her with a look of lust in their eyes.

Even though she was simply a waitress at the party, I could see so many of these men were picturing her in other positions and thinking about ways that she could serve them besides just bringing them a cocktail.
