I pulled back, chest heaving with shaky breaths. We stared at each other for a beat. He didn’t say anything, so I forged ahead.

“I should have asked first, but I’d really like to kiss you some more and maybe not just on your lips… if… if you’re willing, that is.”

It was only then that I realized we were still in public.

Charlie’s Words To Live By:

When all else fails, kiss the fucker’s brains out.

If I was willing? If I was willing?

Jesus, what the hell was he thinking? Of course I was willing. Experimenting het guy or not, I’d never seen or felt a more beautiful set of lips on a man. The idea that I could taste them again made my heart practically skitter out of my chest.

Did I care that he was straight?

I looked into his half-lidded eyes again and was swallowed whole.

Hell no, I didn’t care. But I did want to understand what was going through his head before I took advantage of him.

“I thought you were straight?” I asked, not surprised at all how husky my voice sounded suddenly.

His beautiful face was adorably berry colored. “I am. I mean I was. I mean, I am,” he said before wincing. “I mean… clearly I don’t know what the hell I am.”

I raised an eyebrow. “First things first. Have you ever kissed another man?”

“No,” he said, blowing out a big breath. “And I’ve never wanted to before now. I mean, before this week. Before…” Another deep breath. “Before meeting you.”

“My sister told me you had a girlfriend,” I said, hoping like hell Cait had got it wrong.

Hudson’s eyes widened. “I don’t! I don’t, I swear. We broke up. We… I mean, she thought I proposed, but I didn’t. I didn’t propose. It was all a big misunderstanding, I promise. I wouldn’t cheat. I’m not a cheater. And I hate it when others cheat. Fuck!”

I jumped a little at his outburst and had to bite back a laugh when he continued. His hands were raking through his hair, leaving it messy and every which way.

“How many times am I going to say the word ‘cheat’? I’m sorry, Charlie. I do this sometimes.”

“Do what? Proposition unsuspecting Irishmen in gay bars?” I teased.

“What? No.” Hudson looked up and realized I was taking the piss. His face cracked into a relieved smile. “Oh. You were joking. No, it’s just… when I get nervous I say stupid shit. Actually I don’t. Not usually. But around you for some reason, I do. And I have no idea why. Maybe it’s because if I just keep talking, I won’t do something stupid. Like… like touch you. Or ask you a personal question or… Or touch you—”

I stepped forward and reached for Hudson’s hand to pull him toward the elevator. His eyes were practically bugging out of his eye holes, and the entire terrified lamb-to-slaughter look shouldn’t have been so damned alluring, but it was.

“What floor?” I asked.

We were in his room within moments, the door solidly closed and locked behind us.

Hudson’s hand was large and warm in mine even though it was plenty clammy with nerves. I sat him down on the edge of the chair in the corner of the room and then straddled his lap with a knee resting on the cushion to either side of his hips. Hudson’s breathing ramped up even further, and his pupils widened quickly as I settled my arse on his thighs.

I cupped his face, reveling in the feel of the soft scruff on his cheeks.

“Are you sure you want to do this, Hudson?” I asked in a soft voice. “I’m fine being your experiment, but I’m not fine being your regret. Think about this before you—”

“I have,” he blurted. “You have no idea how much I’ve thought about you. I can’t stop thinking about you. The way you smile… and laugh… and light up when someone you know comes into the pub. You’re like sunshine, Charlie, and I want a taste. Besides, I already told you. The whole time you were gone, I…”

His words sent my heart rate running on rabbit feet. My cock was already standing and cheering me on from its spot mashed against the zip of my jeans. I wanted desperately to rub it against Hudson, but I assumed one feel of mancock would send the poor hetero screaming down the hall and out into the October night.

“Then kiss me,” I whispered, bringing my lips close to him but leaving the final gap for him to cross. “Please.”

I felt his warm hands land gently on the top of my thighs and slide up the denim of my jeans until he reached my hips. His movements were hesitant until something shifted in his gaze, and then his touch became more sure. His fingers snuck under the hem of my jumper until they reached the skin of my sides and caused me to suck in a breath. A little sound escaped my throat, and it seemed to urge him on.
