Whatcha doing?

Why? Are you hungry?

She sent me several middle finger emojis. I’m always hungry…but that’s not the point.

What are you hungry for?

Pizza…and you.

In that order?

You, and then pizza, and then you again.

I smirked. Then get your ass over here, baby.

She arrived twenty minutes later, wearing a cute sundress with several necklaces hanging from her throat. Her eyes were so bright when they looked at me, like I’d been on her mind all day. She looked me up and down, seeing me in nothing but my sweatpants. “I’d love a calendar with a picture like this for every month of the year.” She moved into me and kissed me, her palms planting against my hard body.

My hand gripped her ass as I kissed her, feeling her dress ride up in my grip. Her lips tasted like candy, and she always kissed me like my touch was the drink at the end of the hard day.

I loved that she didn’t play games, that she texted me when she wanted to see me instead of waiting for me to text her and then getting mad when I didn’t. She came out and said what she wanted. I didn’t have to be a mind reader.

The farthest we made it was to the couch, and she lay back in the corner while I pinned her in place, her lithe body folded underneath mine, the two of us moving hard together like it’d been weeks since we’d seen each other rather than days. Tears streaked her makeup, and her nails sliced into my skin as she finished, gripping my dick hard like it was in her hand.

Then I lay beside her on the couch, my arm a pillow for her head.

“How about we eat pizza in the tub?” I asked.

Her eyes lifted to mine as a smile moved across her lips. “That’s the best idea I’ve ever heard.”

“Yes, I’m a genius.”

“You’re a genius at fucking.”

I smiled before I headed into the bathroom and started the water. My butler had drawn the bath last time, so I wasn’t sure what he’d done other than squirting the bubble bath into the water. I didn’t sprinkle rose petals anywhere or light candles. But I did text him and ask him to prepare dinner.

She came in a moment later then entered the water, her sexy body wet and covered with bubbles. She leaned against the edge and rested her head against the towel that was propped there. “How do you ever leave the house?”

I stepped into the tub across from her, watching her lie there with her eyes closed.

“If I lived like this, I would never go anywhere.”

After my divorce, I couldn’t imagine being married again, never sharing my space with another person. But when I pictured Scarlett being there with me, asleep on the couch in front of the TV when I came home or soaking in the tub while I took a shower, it didn’t bother me as much.

She opened her eyes and looked at me.

I grabbed her feet under the water and started to massage them.

“Are you rubbing my feet?”

“Yes.”

“You don’t have to do that.” She relaxed farther in the tub, her eyes fluttering closed.

“Want me to stop?” I asked with a smirk.

She was quiet.

“That’s what I thought. You’re always wearing those killer heels.”

Her eyes remained closed, and it seemed like she would drift off to sleep.

It was dead quiet, just the two of us, and I stared at her while her eyes remained closed. I was the one rubbing her feet, but it soothed me, having this peace, being with someone without the need to talk or fuck.

She eventually inhaled a deep breath like she was forcing herself to stir. She pulled her feet away. “Keep at it, and I’ll fall asleep.”

“I’ll make sure you don’t drown, baby.”

She righted herself in the tub, her eyes still heavy with sleepiness. “How was your day?”

“Nothing worth mentioning. You?”

“Eh…”

“Eh?”

“Just paperwork and bullshit.”

Whenever we saw each other on the clock, we just avoided each other. That seemed to be the most realistic reaction after she’d found out about my past. If she believed it, she would want nothing to do with me.

We sat there in silence, just looking at each other.

I debated whether I should say anything, if I wanted to risk losing what we had, but the longer I stayed in that tub with her, the more I was convinced that this was what I wanted. I could look at her all day, and I’d never felt that way about anyone else. “I’m going to be straight with you, baby.”

My words made her stiffen, like she knew I was about to say something important.

“I want to make this complicated.”

Her arms crossed over her chest under the water.

“I think you want to make this complicated too.”

She remained quiet, but her eyes confirmed my suspicions.
