“I’m not,” I say, hating how aroused I am, and he doesn’t have any interest in me.
“Good, you better not be a bad girl.”
“Or what?”
He pauses and I wonder what punishment he’ll threaten me with. The idea only arouses me more. “Your brother will be on our case,” he growls with his beautiful blue eyes peering into mine.
I’m wondering if he’s really using my brother as a buffer. “Of course not. My brother would be mad at you for not taking care of me.”
“And you know I always try to do my best to take care of you. You’re lucky I have to go because you’re about to be punished.” He lets me go and then walks out the front door without a backward glance. Still, even with him gone, I can feel the tension in the air.
My heart aches and so does my body because there’s no way I’m not going to be touching myself tonight. God, why does he do this to me? There is no way we’re ever going to be a couple. The man runs hot and cold. Is it because of my brother or my age? He seems like he wants me, but then he finds an escape. Our relationship has only gotten more complicated. He deposits money in my bank account every week and then I take care of his meals and clothes.
Speaking of laundry, it’s time to do a load or two. I walk into his bedroom and snatch the hamper which is only half full. The one in the bathroom has even less, so I scoop out the clothes and carry them to the laundry room only to find a piece of paper with a phone number and a woman’s name written on it. “Of course,” I sigh. He’s fucking gorgeous. It’s not his handwriting, but he kept it, so I set it on his dresser.
This is why. I’m not the kind of girl he can just sleep with and get out of his bed. The connection with my brother makes it a problem. I decided that I need to get out of the apartment.
I’ve been invited to parties and stuff. There’s no reason to stay home if he’s going to be out with women, having fun.
Sitting on the sofa, I shot off a text to my friend. Where is the party at?
Girl, we are at Joey’s house. Big party. Come on down.
On my way in twenty.
I jump up and head over to the bedroom to find something sexy to wear. There’s no way I’m going dressed in what I’m wearing right now. I’m not ready to go in this outfit.
It takes me about fifteen minutes to come out in a pair of jeans and a black one shoulder top that cuts at my midriff. My hair is still partially curled from yesterday, but I still give it a quick run through with the curling iron and swipe on some makeup before turning everything off and running out of the apartment.
To be nice, I sent Julian a message and let him know I’ll be out.
Hey, going out with friends.
No.
Not asking for permission.
You’re asking for something. Can’t you just behave.
I’m allowed to have friends.
Be careful.
Okay. Don’t screw anyone.
You either. Or I’ll rip their balls off.
Yes, Daddy.
Good girl.
My panties are ruined, but it’s too late to turn back and change them, so I head to the party and when I get there, it’s insanely loud. The people are spilling out into the lawn and immediately regret my decision to go. I am looking for my friend Kate and she’s getting wasted with her boyfriend Joey.
“Hey, girl. There you are,” she squeals, jumping out of his arms. “God, you look hot. There are so many guys here, but I’m surprised you made it here without your guard dog breathing down your neck.”
“He’s at a business dinner.”
“Still, he’s always got someone watching you.” She looks around me to see if there’s anyone tailing me.
“No, he doesn’t. You’re crazy.” I shake my head.
“Girl, there’s always someone watching you. Right, Joey?”
He nods, taking another drink from his plastic cup. “Yup. I hope they don’t bust up the party,” he grumbles.
“I don’t think so since they have no idea where I am.”
“Besides, how could they follow me?” That made no sense and I’m betting it’s because they’re drunk.
Suddenly the sound of police sirens going off.
“Fucking hell. I knew it, Kate. I told you it was a bad idea to invite her. Her fucking guard dogs called the police.”
I’m stressed out because I’m going to be in trouble and now my friends are pissed at me. The cops raid the house and break up the party.
I march out toward my vehicle and as I’m about to grab the handle I’m stopped by a cop. “Miss, before you drive off you need to be tested for alcohol consumption.”
