“Damn girl,” I say. “You must be one smart cookie.” I nudge Juliette. “Just like the brainiac over here. Thankfully, I’m done with all my general ed curriculum. The bio classes were almost enough to make my brain explode.”

My bestie bumps me in return. “I’m in if you are.”

“Sure, I could use a night out.”

Especially after the way Ford heated me all up.

Stella beams. “Great. Let’s plan to meet up at Blue Vibe on Friday.”

Chapter Eighteen

Ford

My gaze bounces around the first floor of the house even though I’m pretty sure I won’t find who I’m searching for. There’s no way she’d show up on her own.

Even if she was horny as hell.

Can’t say that I didn’t enjoy revving up her engine the other day. It only makes me impatient to get my hands on her again.

Shifting on the chair, I drum my fingers against my knee as tension continues to coil inside the pit of my belly. As tempting as it is to pull out my phone and fire off a text to find out where her ass is, I refrain.

Trust me, it’s no easy feat.

For the first time when it comes to that girl, the ball is in my court. I want to savor it for as long as possible. I have no idea how I managed to wrestle control of the situation away from her, but thank fuck I did.

Can you even imagine Carina Hutchins practically on her knees, begging for my dick?

Me neither.

So yeah…I’m just going to sit back and enjoy this rare occurrence. I’ve never known Carina to beg a guy for anything.

The steady drumming on my knee continues as I scan a new set of faces, disappointed when I don’t find the one I’m looking for.

Damn.

Where the hell is that girl?

No, seriously. Where is she?

I probably should have made that a rule. From now on, she discloses her location at all times.

I tilt my head to one side and crack the joints, hoping to relieve some of the pressure gathering like a storm inside me. When that doesn’t work, I look for a distraction. Something that will get my mind off of Carina.

Tonight’s turnout is lowkey. Instead of throwing a massive party, it’s just a bunch of guys from the team hanging out, playing video games, and knocking back a couple of cold ones.

Coach Philips scheduled a team meeting after a freshman player got totally shitfaced and then proceeded to get busted by campus police. He skated everyone until five of the younger players threw up and the rest of us were on the verge of passing out. By the time I made it back to the blue line, spots were dancing in front of my eyes. Over my dead body was I dropping like a wet-behind-the-ears freshie.

Unfortunately for Clint Peters, his ass is now on probation, and he’ll be riding the pine for the foreseeable future. Unless he’s able to do a one eighty and turn things around, there won’t be a place for him on the roster next year.

I glance at Ryder, who’s sprawled out on a small loveseat, watching a couple guys play NHL. “Where’s your better half?”

The question shoots out of my mouth before I can stop it.

The last thing I want is for Ryder to figure out why I’m asking.

Like I need to catch shit from this guy?

Nope, don’t think so.

“Ewww,” Maverick McKinnon, Juliette’s younger brother says from the armchair shoved in the corner.

I snort. He’s still trying to wrap his head around the fact that his best friend and teammate is now dating his sister. If I weren’t so preoccupied by the blonde dancer, I’d take this opportunity to give him a little shit.

Ryder rolls his eyes. “You really need to get over it, man.”

“I’m trying. But watching you two suck face doesn’t help matters.”

Ignoring the comment, Ryder glances at me. “She’s out with the girls. No dudes allowed.”

“Oh?” My brows rise at this newly gleaned bit of information. I had no idea.

I impatiently wait for him to add more details, but he remains silent, gaze locked on the television screen. This is where the situation gets tricky. As much as I’d like to interrogate the guy, I don’t want to rouse suspicion.

So, I drum my fingers on my knee and give it a few minutes before casually dropping another question. “I assume Carina’s with her?”

A slow grin moves across Ryder’s lips as a knowing glint sparks in his bright blue eyes.

Busted

“Yup.” He cocks his head. “Jules sent a few pics. Looks like they’re having a blast at Blue Vibe.”

Blue Vibe?

She’d better not be having too good a time.

“What was that?” he asks, popping a brow. His voice has turned positively giddy.

Fuck. I didn’t realize I’d muttered the comment out loud. I really need to get my shit under control.
