“Not at all. I’m just saying the minute I decide to stop taking my meds to prevent pregnancy, you’re going to have me knocked up.”
“We could test that theory anytime you’re ready.”
“I’ll let you know,” she laughs.
“So, you’re saying you really want to move to Kentucky?”
“Tinny would love it. She’d have grandparents and cousins. She’s like a different child in Kentucky. Before you came into our lives, Tinny was never this happy.”
“Indy, you don’t need to do this for me. I’m happy wherever you and our girl are.”
She reaches up and cups her hand against my face. “I’m doing it for us. This is the right move for both of us. I know it. Besides, you can’t say you don’t feel at ease in Kentucky. You love being surrounded by your family. That’s only going to get stronger as all your memories return.”
“What about you? Where will you be happiest, Indy? You are what matters most to me.”
“If you give me a little boy who looks just like his daddy then I’m going to be happy period. It won’t matter where I am.”
“Throw out your fucking birth control tomorrow, woman.”
“Done,” she laughs.
I grab her, slamming our mouths together and kissing her with all the love I have inside for her. Then, I spend the rest of the night practicing on planting our son inside her. I selfishly hope it takes a lot of practice …
Chapter 28
Breaker
Thanksgiving Day
“How are you doing?” I ask Indy for the hundredth time.
“Shouldn’t I be asking you that?” she laughs.
“I’m not the one who looks like they’re about to burst out of their skin,” I respond, giving her a wry grin.
“I just want them to like me,” she mumbles.
We’re riding alone. Tinny is in the truck following us with Cooper and Iva. I’m pretty sure that when Indy and I make the move to Kentucky, they’ll be moving with us. Iva is already checking out homes. She told Indy she would like to have a small Craftsman home a lot like mine. I have an idea brewing in my head, but I need to do some research and talk to Indy about it. First, I need us to get through this dinner.
Oddly enough, I’m not lying to Indy. I’m not nervous at all about today. I feel oddly at home in Kentucky around everyone. I may have memory loss, but I’m getting small glimpses here and there. It’s enough to know that my roots run deep inside the Savage Brothers MC. The bond with my immediate family is very strong. It helps that they’ve accepted Indy and Tinny into the fold without question. If they hadn’t, there’s no way I would have thought about coming back to Kentucky—memory or not.
As I pull into the driveway of the Savage MC Clubhouse, the parking area is filled with vehicles. I know this does nothing to allay Indy’s nerves. I know Mom took her aside and tried to prepare her for today. She’s been calling Indy all week, but I’m not sure it helped. If anything, I think it made her more nervous. Mom warned her that there would be club Twinkies there. Then, had to explain what that was to both of us. That was very uncomfortable—to put it mildly. I might not have any memory, but I know I’m a man and I figure if there’s free pussy, a man’s going to go after it. She warned most of them would be at the family dinner tonight with the single men of the club. I spoke with Indy a little bit about it, but she waved me off, telling me my past was exactly that. Hopefully, no one is an issue. I can’t prepare, because I don’t remember anyone before Indy. I don’t want to.
I look over at my woman. She’s smiling at me. “It’s okay.”
I lean over and kiss her quickly. “Cooper just pulled in. Let’s get our girl.”
She nods, undoing her seatbelt. I come around to open the door for her. As she slips her hand into mine and we walk toward Cooper’s truck, I feel myself completely relax. As long as it’s Indy and I together, we can face anything—even a past I can’t truly remember.
“Is Daisy here?” Tinny cries, jumping into my arms.
“I haven’t been inside yet, but I bet she is,” I laugh.
“Yay!” Tinny cheers, making all of us laugh.
We barely get to the double doors of the club when they open. “Where’s my baby girl at?” Dad’s voice booms, making Tinny squeal. “I’m here! I’m here, Big Paw!” she cries, trying to jump out of my arms to get to my dad. I pass her over as she hugs his neck as tight as her little arms will allow.
When they first met, Tinny told Dad that he was as big as a tree and somehow that equated into her calling him Big Paw forever. I know he loves it.
