“I think I have to just to shut it down,” I say. “Closure for both of us.”

“Closure for both of you? I thought you had your closure when you asked him to commit to you, and he didn’t.” His words are truthful and also sting at the same time.

“You’re right,” I admit to him, “but I need to see him face-to-face to tell him it’s over.”

“He’s playing a game with you.” He walks into the room, pulling me up from the bed. “Trust me, I know the game he’s playing.” The words confuse me even more. “Little does he know that the game he’s playing”—he pulls me to him—“I’m going to fucking win it,” he says right before his lips crash onto mine. He spends the whole night making me say his name over and over again.

Twenty

Nash

I walk up the steps with her matcha in one hand and my protein shake in the other. The sun was slowly peeking out of the clouds when I walked back into the house twenty minutes ago because it was only a little after six. Stepping into the darkened room, I make my way to her side of the bed. She’s lying on her stomach, one leg cocked to the side with one arm under the pillow, the other one stretched out. The covers are at her naked shoulder, her hair draped across the pillow. I put the two drinks down before I sit on the bed softly, trying not to wake her just yet.

I take a minute just to look at her. The feelings I’m feeling for her are ones I’ve never felt before. I knew she was the one, but I wasn’t sure how that feeling would go with that sentiment. Without being able to stop myself, I reach one hand around her hip and bend to kiss her neck. She moans under my touch, and my cock goes to half-mast. I kiss her again and again until she finally stirs and calls my name, “Nash.” Last night after her motherfucker of an ex called her, I made it a point to make her say my name all night long.

“Good morning, baby.” I move my kisses from her neck to her shoulder and then back up again. “I made you a matcha,” I say as she turns to her side facing me, tucking the cover under her arm. “I’m going to head into the shower.”

“What time is it?” she asks, trying to open her eyes and keep them open.

“Just a little after six.” I bend to kiss her lips. “You have time.”

I go to move, and her hand grabs my wrist, pulling me back to her. “Give me a hug.” Her voice is grumbled and soft.

“I’m all sweaty,” I warn her, looking at my shirt that is a little wet from me working out for an hour and a half.

“Wouldn’t be the first time you put your sweat on me.” She leans up on her elbow, the cover falling off her to her waist. Her tits are on display, her nipples looking tight and pebbled, inviting me to suck on them. Tempting me, the little love bites around them make me smile. “I don’t think it’ll be your last either.” Her hand moves up to wrap around the side of my neck as she tips her head back and up to kiss me on the lips. “Good morning,” she finally says.

“You’re beautiful.” My hand that was at her hip comes up to rub her chin with my thumb. “So fucking beautiful.” Her eyes get glossy from the words and then slowly go lighter. “You take my breath away.” I kiss her quickly before getting up and maybe saying things I don’t even know how to say. Saying things that might fuck it all up before we are both in that safe space where we can say things like that and have it be okay.

I pull off my T-shirt. “You can finish watching that show from last night,” I tell her, and she sits up with her back against the headboard. “The man married to four women.”

“One woman now,” she corrects me, “and I would have finished if someone hadn’t trailed his fingers down my body, followed by his mouth.”

“I didn’t hear you complain.” I smirk at her as I toss the T-shirt in the laundry basket. “In fact, there was a lot of ‘Nash, don’t stop.’”

She reaches over to grab her matcha. “We remember different things, then.”

“I remember everything,” I assure her, and her cheeks get pink while she grabs the remote and turns on the television. At the same time, I walk into the bathroom, going straight for the shower. I pull open the glass door and set the water to just how I like it before taking off my shorts and boxers, and tossing them in the laundry basket in the corner. I undress everywhere in my bedroom, and I have four baskets around so I don’t have clothes piling up. I pull open the door and step into the warm water, wetting my hair first and then running my hands through it before I grab my shampoo. I’m rinsing it out of my hair when I feel a draft and look over to see Zoey stepping into the shower. “Hey.” I see her hair down and not pinned up like she usually has it when she gets in the shower.
