As they rode towards the sunset on his spread he made up his mind that it was time enough to put their cards on the table. As things stood they were little more than friends, though he was sure she felt the tension between them whenever they were in the same air space the same way he did.
He wasn’t ready before to change that but now he was and there was no point in putting it off any longer. If he had to have another one of those conversations where they skirted around the elephant in the room he just might shoot himself in the head.
They rode along in silence for a good ten minutes before he spoke. “Celia, do you want to be with me?” That was as much of the gentleman as he was willing to play. He’d pretty much made up his mind already that she was going to be in his bed before long. I guess you can say this was just a formality.
She was so stunned by the sudden question coming out of the blue as it was that she almost fell off the horse. How could he just come right out and ask her that? When she didn’t answer right away but just stared at the side of his head dumbly he turned in the saddle to look at her with a raised brow. “Cat got your tongue?”
“No, I’m just…” He pulled on the reins bringing his horse to a stop and got down from out the saddle and walked over to where she too had stopped to lift her down from her horse, trapping her between the horse and his body. She looked up to answer him but he stopped her with his lips on hers.
She didn’t breathe, couldn’t. It felt like everything in her life had led to this moment, this unexpected but oh so desired moment in time. She was nervous as hell and he felt it in the arms he now had wrapped protectively around her.
It wasn’t the kiss itself that freaked her out, but what it represented. Here she was kissing the guy that she’d been crushing on for so long, a man that was so out of her league it wasn’t to be believed. There was also the fear that this was some kind of rebound situation, due to close proximity. She was after all heavily involved in the deterioration of his marriage.
Her thoughts kept her from giving in all the way though her body was already starting to yearn. A kiss shared with someone you’d already given your heart to was a whole lot different from any other she’d shared before. It felt as if her whole heart was in it.
She didn’t hold onto any feelings of resistance for long, he didn’t let her. Riley sensed the hesitation in her but instead of pulling back, easing off, he went in deeper, wrapping his arms more firmly around her and pulling her in.
He made sure she felt his need as he pressed his growing cock against the vee between her thighs, right where he could feel her. Celia for her part was drowning. She knew he’d feel like this, that being in his arms would take her to a place she’d never been before, but her imagination was no match for reality.
He kissed as if he was trying to devour her. Even her toes felt it and curled inside the boots she wore. And whereas she didn’t know what to do with her hands when the kiss began, she now let them roam freely along his back. That only seemed to encourage him more and she felt herself being lifted until his cock was hitting her right where she could feel need building.
When she thought she was going to pass out from lack of air he finally moved his lips from hers but didn’t pull away entirely. Instead he took little nibbling nips of her lips from one end to the other as he eased her back down on her feet.
Celia felt the hard muscles of his chest pressed hard against her much softer breasts and longed to get even closer. Her head was spinning out of control and her body felt foreign. She’d never felt such intense heat from just a kiss alone.
She knew this would happen though, knew that if she ever got this close to him she might lose herself, and said a silent prayer that she didn’t make a complete fool of herself. But how amazing is it to be held by him like this after dreaming of it for so long.
She didn’t let herself think about how they got here, about the hell of the last few months, but decided to be selfish for once and enjoy the closeness they shared. Still she had to ask, had to be sure. It’s not like she could run away from here like she’d done in New York if things didn’t work out between them. She’d already made this place her home and wasn’t about to pick up stakes again in this lifetime. But the town is so small…
