Her breath hitched in her throat. “What?”

He pulled her against his broad chest. “You get devoured.” Ethan lowered his head and crushed her lips beneath his.

Riley, shocked at first, remained immobile until it sank in that she was being kissed by Ethan Boudreaux. Then she returned his kiss enthusiastically. She’d been kissed before, but never quite like this. Ethan’s kiss was that of an experienced man versus the fumbling of a nervous teenage boy. He didn’t simply kiss, he made love to her mouth. As Riley pressed her body against his, her insides burst into flames. A scorching heat of the like she’d never experienced coursed through her entire being.

He wove his fingers through her hair and yanked just enough to tilt her head back. The forceful thrust of his tongue parted her lips, giving him the entrance he sought. Ethan tasted of mint and coffee.

Riley moaned as his other hand roamed from her waist to cup her breast. Her pussy ached with need and she could feel herself getting wetter by the second. He grazed her tightened nipple through Riley’s shirt with the pad of his thumb. She felt herself blossoming beneath his touch like a flower.

Ethan was the one to finally break away much to Riley’s dismay. She touched her kiss swollen lips if for nothing else than to verify she hadn’t imagined what had just happened.

He took a moment to catch his breath. “This was a mistake. I must be out of my mind,” he said more to himself than he did to her.

Riley’s heart plummeted to her feet at his words. “You didn’t like it?”

He snorted. “That wasn’t the problem, Riley. I liked it. Hell, I loved it. Too damn much.”

“Then I don’t understand what the problem is. I liked it and you just admitted you did too. How could that be a mistake?”

“Because you’re too goddamn young. You’re still a teenager for chrissake.”

“I’ll be twenty this year. And you make it seem like you’re an old man. Twenty-seven doesn’t make you eligible to join the AARP. Besides, age is just a number.”

“When you’re still in school and haven’t had a chance to experience the world, age is very much a factor. Let’s just forget this night never happened and I promise I’ll be a perfect gentleman from here on out.”

“Stop being so damn condescending. I’m not a child. And you don’t get to decide what’s best for me. Maybe I don’t want to see the world. I want to be with you. I think I fell a little bit in love with you through all of Megan’s stories about how wonderful her big brother was. And then when I met you in person, you didn’t disappoint. You were everything I thought you’d be and more. You made me so happy when you admitted you have feelings for me too. But now you’re pissing me off because you’re not giving me a say in the matter. Maybe the problem isn’t my age but that I’m not the ideal girlfriend for a man in your position. I know I’m not your usual type. I don’t know why I’m wasting my breath. You sound like you’ve already made up your mind.” She huddled in her seat and wrapped her arms around herself. “Just take me home.”

“Riley—”

“Take me home now.”

The atmosphere in the car was so tense it was almost suffocating. Without another word, he took her home. When he pulled up in front of her house, she couldn’t get out of his vehicle fast enough.

As she was scooting out of the car however, he grabbed her wrist. “Riley, I never meant things to go that far.” He actually sounded sincere but Riley was in no mood for his apology.

“Fuck you, Ethan.” She ripped her wrist out of his grasp and got out of the vehicle making sure to slam the door behind her.

If Riley had known then what she knew now, she would have saved herself the heartache of what was to come by staying out of Ethan’s path. But that man had quickly become an addiction she couldn’t shake.

Riley shivered, realizing the water had gone cold. She’d been so distracted by her memories all the hot water had run out. Quickly she turned off the showerhead and stepped out the shower. Shivering, she grabbed her thick terry cloth robe hanging on the back of the bathroom door. When she was in her bedroom again, Riley was greeted by the R&B song that served as her ring tone.

She ignored it and went about oiling her body. After a time, the phone rang again. By the time she’d finished dressing, her cell had rung a total of four separate times. Either she was popular today or someone was persistent.

With a groan she picked up her phone and saw on the screen the caller had been Megan all four times. Riley was definitely not in the mood to talk to her friend who she was still a little miffed at for giving Ethan her private information.
