“You feel so good,” he says through clenched teeth.

“Keep going. Don’t stop.”

I hook my ankles at the small of his back and lift my hips off the mattress. He grips my hips with both hands. The pressure against my skin burns.

“Don’t stop, Jack,” I beg, tears from the intense pleasure wetting the corners of my eyes. “Please. Don’t stop.”

My senses are overrun. The sound of our bodies slipping against one another. The taste of Jack’s mouth. The smell of his sweat mixed with his cologne blends with the sting of his hands.

And the absolute vision of the gorgeous man watching me like I’m some kind of prize.

This. I’ve missed this.

Being his. Being craved and adored. Being loved.

Then he hits that spot.

My eyes fall closed as I begin to topple over the edge.

“There you go,” he says, guiding me down his length. “Give it to me, Lauren. Give yourself up for me.”

“Oh, my . . . ah!”

I grip the blankets in my hands and jerk. My body shakes furiously around Jack, trembling in an explosive bout of ecstasy.

My body goes limp as I feel Jack begin to swell inside me.

A guttural groan rips through the air. He pounds into me harder and harder.

The sound prompts me to open my eyes and watch him fall apart.

And fall apart he does.

His Adam’s apple bobs in his throat as his head falls back. The corners of his eyes wrinkle as his body shakes.

“Fuck,” he says, hissing between his teeth.

Watching him release is almost as satisfying as getting off myself.

Almost.

Slowly, he comes back to earth and lowers me gently to the mattress. He slides out of me and then collapses on the bed at my side.

My heart swells as I take in the look on his face.

“How was that?” he asks, resting his head on his arm.

“I give it five stars.”

He grins. “I’m glad.”

“How was it for you?”

“Ten stars.”

I laugh. “I’m glad.”

He reaches for me, pulling me so that we’re lying side by side. He feathers a finger up and down my arm.

“Our maintenance plan needs to include that at least five times a week,” he says, peering down at me with amusement written all over his face.

“I don’t know.”

His brows shoot to the ceiling. “You don’t know?”

“No. I don’t know. I happen to remember a few other things you used to do that I really, really liked. I might want to swap some of that out.”

He smirks. “I think we have a problem.”

“Oh, really?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He presses a loud, wet kiss to my lips. “Looks like we’re going to have to take a bath—then I’ll probably need a snack and maybe a nap. But then you’re going to have to go to all the trouble of explaining exactly what it is you want me to add to the plan.”

I smirk back. “I’m not sure I can describe it. We might need a run-through to make sure we’re on the same page.”

He rises and hops off the bed. “Then I’m going to get the bath started so we can get back to show-and-tell.”

I laugh as he disappears into the bathroom.

There he is. There’s the man I married. The selfless, fun, loving, absolutely beautiful man I fell hopelessly in love with.

I’ve missed that man so much.

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

LAUREN

Istretch, feeling the pull in my muscles all the way through my toes.

Jack sits beside me, propped up against his pillows, holding a book. His hair is a mussy, wild mess and still damp from our bath. A contented smile stretches across his lips.

I’ve dozed off and on since our second round between the sheets. The follow-up wasn’t as frenzied as the first. There was more kissing, exploring, and talking. Playing. Teasing. It was carefree and fun in a way I’d forgotten sex could be.

“What are you reading?” I ask, yawning.

“The Great Gatsby. I found it in my middle console. Forgot I slipped it in there before I came.”

“Interesting choice.”

He closes the book and sets it on his lap.

I move onto my side, laying an arm across his stomach.

“Maddie asked me a question a couple of weeks ago about it,” he says. “They were reading it in school, I think.”

I nod. “Yeah. She had to do a paper on it.”

“Right. Well, she asked me something about one of the characters’ motivations, and I had no clue what she was talking about. She started breaking it down for me, and it sounded interesting. So I bought myself a copy.”

I grin, narrowing my eyes. “So you’re a bookworm now?”

He laughs. “I wouldn’t start labeling me anything yet. I’m on chapter six.”

“There’s something super sexy about a man with a book.”

“Is there?”

My fingers stroke his skin. “Yeah. It doesn’t matter what kind. Classics or historical dramas or books about car parts.” I laugh. “It shows that you have interests outside of yourself. That bodes well for the future.”
