Tech frowned before his mouth quirked into a wry grin.

Steele ran his thumb down Tech’s face, not able to stop himself from leaning in and kissing Tech’s cheek, just so he could feel the smoothness on his own rough face. “I say unrealistic because there you were, in the middle of all those roughnecks. Looking so sexy and beautiful. Don’t misunderstand me. You are all man. Strong, confident, not an effeminate bone in your body.” Steele pressed in closer, growling his next words. “And that fuckin’ turns me on. No one can get me as hard as you do.”

“Edwin,” Tech whispered his name like he was in pain. “I could barely speak when I first saw you. You still take my breath away.”

Steele’s lips curved provocatively against Tech’s cheek. “Now that you know I’m not fucking with you just for the sake of having something to do. Have dinner with me.” Steele gripped Tech’s chin and licked his way back inside his mouth. “Then, I’d love to see your place… particularly your bedroom.”

“Yes. When?” Tech held him tighter, pulling him in until he was practically rubbing himself on him.

Steele whispered between delicious kisses. “So damn needy. I love it. I’m going to give you what you want, Shawn… don’t worry. But I don’t want to rush. I’m not going anywhere… especially now.”

Tech

Finally. Steele finally said what Tech had been battling with for the past several weeks. If he fell for Steele, would he end up left alone again? Their jobs were unpredictable, time-consuming, and extremely demanding, but if he and Steele were together, that would solve everything. They’d see each other all the time. Sure, Steele was on the streets a lot, but Tech saw him often enough. The divorce rate for police officers was depressing, almost as bad as the military. All Tech wanted was a chance to be happy, like his team members.

“When?” Tech repeated, tightening his thighs.

“Tonight. I’m not waiting any longer,” Steele murmured. “Kiss me.”

Tech wasn’t sure how long they were in there making out, but he was ready to move this to the next level. At first, he’d been unsure if they had more than just physical attraction, but after weeks of conversations and shared laughs, he knew they did. He could listen to Steele talk for hours, and though he could still hardly believe it, Steele enjoyed listening to him, too. Sometimes Steele didn’t want to get off the phone at night to let Tech get some rest. Smiling against Steele’s lips, he asked him, “Are you picking me up?”

“My bike is still at my uncle’s. I’m sure I can borrow Green’s car.”

“No. I’ll drive.”

“Okay, then. How’s six?” Steele kept his arms over Tech’s shoulders, their foreheads pressed together while they ironed out the details.

Tech peeked at the digital clock on the wall. “That’s only an hour and a half away.”

“I know. I told you. I’m done waiting.”

“I have to get home and get changed.”

“No, you don’t.”

“Yes, I do. Eight o’clock.”

“I’m not waiting until eight.” Steele gripped Tech’s neck, closing his mouth back over his, silencing his protest.

Tech pushed Steele back after a few seconds. “Yes, you will. I’m gonna finish up here and head home. I’ll pick you up at Ruxs and Green’s. At. Eight.”

Steele wore excited and horny so well Tech wanted to change the time back to six. He walked out the door, glad they were still alone in the office. He was playing with fire, allowing Steele to get him riled up like he had at work, but the feeling of sneaking around, the stolen touches, was exhilarating. Now he knew why Ruxs and Green couldn’t help themselves.

Steele walked up behind him while he was powering down his system. “I’ll see you soon. Don’t be late.”

Tech shook his head, not bothering to turn around. So demanding.

Steele

Green whistled at him when he came downstairs into the kitchen and pulled a bottle of beer out of the refrigerator. “Kinda snazzy for eggrolls and fried rice, Steele.” Green teased him while he flipped his rice around in the wok like a professional.

“I’m not eating with you guys tonight. I’ve got a date.” Steele couldn’t stop his pleased smile. He was sure he looked like a smitten fool, but he didn’t care.

“Oh yeah? Anyone we know?” Green mocked.

Steele gave him an irritated look while he hoisted himself on the stool to wait. He still had an hour until Tech was supposed to show.

“’Bout time,” Ruxs barked from the couch, not taking his eyes off his video game.

“Shut up. We’re taking things slow. You two wouldn’t know anything about that.” Steele took a gulp of his beer, glancing at his watch again. He was tempted to get his earpiece and fuss at Tech to bring his ass.

“Ruxs and I took things slow. We were partners for years before we found out that there was no one else that could stand us so we might as well fuck each other,” Green said nonchalantly, standing at the island, scooping out the vegetable mixture for his eggrolls.
