“So fucking slick,” he growls in my ear the second his fingers find that sensitive spot between my legs.

I gasp, more in pleasure than discomfort, realizing that for the first time in my life, I find that I like the mingling of both sensations.

My jaw loosens, my mouth hanging open when he presses two fingers inside of me without warning. He doesn’t have to test me to see what I can handle. He knows from last night what my body is capable of.

Magical fingers, combined with the hisses of pleasure in his own voice when I mewl and beg for more, take me to the edge and force me over it with surprising speed. He holds me through my orgasm, when he could’ve easily thanked me for sucking him off and left me to deal with my arousal on my own.

“You good?” he asks me after a minute or so of me trying to catch my breath.

I nod, but instead of him taking a full step back, he reaches for the tiny bar of hotel soap and runs it over my body, taking his time on my breasts and stomach.

The tears I thought I was done with while sitting on the bed after he came in here are renewed, mixing with the water coming from the showerhead. I do a lot of crazy stuff. There are times my impulsive thoughts are stronger than my medication. I know that last night will go down in history as the most impulsive, stupidest thing I’ve ever done. I also know I’ll never live it down. Registering for a wedding that was never going to happen like I did with Kalen pales in comparison to marrying a stranger.

“Can I ask you a favor?” I whisper, knowing what his answer is going to be, but still incapable of not asking.

“Sure,” he says, his tone soft and even, making me wish I could see his face.

“I know we have to get this marriage annulled. I don’t have any delusions about it being anything other than a crazy decision, but if we set that in motion today, I’ll never hear the end of it.”

Instead of arguing or even agreeing, despite me not asking a real question, he remains silent, his hands still making suds with the soap against my skin.

I whimper with need when he skates that bar of soap between my legs.

The man is a virtual stranger. I haven’t even known him for a full twenty-four hours yet. So, I can’t explain why I’m not embarrassed with the way he touches me, as if he has every right to split his fingers and slide them both one on either side of my clit. The soap falls to the shower floor as he continues to rub his fingers up and down. I can tell he’s rinsing the soap from my body, but my arousal doesn’t separate the distinction.

“I was thinking you could just take me with you when you leave.”

Only now does his hand stutter, but it only lasts a few seconds before his roaming hand continues to move along my skin. He curls his hand around my thigh, urging me to lift my leg to the edge of the tub, his fingers tracing the outside of my entrance before dipping in about an inch.

I bite my lower lip to stave off another whimper, creating a noise that’s unfamiliar to me.

“Take you with me?”

I nod, my head angling back to rest against his chest. I love how tall he is, how I fit against him like we’re a perfect nested pair.

“Back to New Mexico. We can get our divorce taken care of there. I just need to get out of town. I can’t be here when the gossip starts.”

He doesn’t say anything, but I know better than to think he’s actually mulling over his choices. I knew what the answer would be the second the question left my mouth.

His fingers slip from inside of me, and he turns me to face him.

I blink up at him, the water cascading over us, pelting me in the face. Licking at the water droplets on my lips, I beg him with my eyes, something that has never worked once for me in the past. I have no idea why I do it now.

When he opens his mouth to shoot me down, I attempt to prepare myself for the rejection. It’s what I’ve always gotten, no matter what the need was.

“I’m not husband material,” he says.

“You don’t have to be a good husband,” I’m quick to tell him.

His eyes lock on my lips before drifting back up to my eyes.

“I can play along for now.”

I slow blink at him, because surely he didn’t just agree.

“Really?” I manage after a few beats.

He shrugs. “It isn’t exactly a hardship having you against me.”

To exaggerate his point, he grips a handful of my ass and pulls me flush to him.
