As I take in my gown through the shitty bathroom mirror with my ass hanging out the back, I can’t help but wonder if I really want everyone here for this, but the moment I start to reconsider, I realize I wouldn’t want it any other way. Sure, it might be a little awkward at times, but these guys are my family, and I love them. Besides, their endless banter is sure to keep me distracted through the pain, and I’m pretty certain they’ll all head out when it’s time to push. And if they don’t—shit. I really hope I don’t poop on the table.

Realizing I’m about to lose every ounce of dignity I possess, I strut out of the bathroom in my hospital gown, not bothering to cover up my ass. I start to climb up into my bed when Carter’s concerned tone rumbles through the room. “You good, bro?”

I look over to find his heavy gaze locked on Sean, and it hits me—this could be the same room Sara was in during her labor. A heaviness fills my veins, realizing just how hard this must be for him. Hell, it’s hard for us all, but Sean . . . fuck.

Sean cuddles Georgie into his chest and gives Carter an encouraging smile, one that doesn’t reach his eyes. “I’m good,” he mutters. “This is a happy day.”

I give him a nod, wishing I could cross the room and give him a big hug, but that’s so much harder than it sounds. So, I indicate to Cassie to do it for me and she immediately makes a move, giving her eldest brother all her love.

A midwife who looks to be my age comes striding in and has to pause as she takes in the crowd surrounding my bed. Her concerned gaze flashes to me, quickly scanning over me and making sure I’m in one piece before a breathtaking smile spreads over her face, making me pause. This woman is stunning. I think I have a bit of a lady crush. “Hi, Brianna, I’m Gigi. I’ll be your midwife today,” she says. “Now, you believe you’re in labor?”

“Yes,” I say before launching into the whole back pain debacle.

“Okay,” she smiles. “That sounds about right, but I’ll need to examine you to confirm you’re actually in labor. Do you need the room to be vacated or are you good to go?”

Glancing at the group around me and knowing they’re not about to go anywhere, I smile up at Gigi. “I’m good. No one but this asshole is gonna look,” I say, hooking my thumb toward Carter.

Gigi follows my gaze to Carter and gives him a polite smile. “The babies’ father, I take it?”

He nods and I smile wide. “Yep. My fiancé,” I add, just because I will never tire of saying it.

“Excellent,” Gigi smiles.

She walks around the bed and steps into my side before getting started on my examination. Both me and the babies are connected to heart rate monitors and a blood pressure cuff is strapped around my arm. She gets started on the physical part of the examination, and just like that, Sean, Logan, and Jax awkwardly glance away. Fingers go places I wasn’t quite prepared for, and soon enough, Gigi confirms that I’m in labor and gets a round of applause and hollered whoops from every person in the room.

“Well, this is going to be a fun day,” she murmurs to me as she goes about jotting down my information on my chart. She gets me set up before draping a blanket over me and making sure I’m comfortable.

The contractions continue and steadily get worse, but so far so good. They haven’t been too bad, and I was right in having everyone here. They keep me distracted from the pain, though I’m not sure if it’s them actually keeping me distracted or the fact they’re grilling Carter on details about when he bought my ring and why the fuck it took him so long to ask.

Gigi comes and goes, checking the machines and examining me to keep track of how I’m progressing, which only makes me realize just how long we’re going to be here.

Everyone starts growing tired, but they are wide awake when a lady starts screaming down the hall. “Holy shit,” Jax grunts with wide eyes, looking at Cass. “You’re never having babies, not if it’s that bad.”

“Shut up,” she laughs. “She’s the rare breed of superwoman who likes to forgo the drugs. Me, I’m no hero. I’ll be having all the drugs.”

I roll my eyes as another contraction comes on, and I start wondering about those drugs she mentioned. The pain gets worse, and I clutch Carter’s hand, cringing and clenching my jaw. “Shit, this hurts,” I say as Carter’s other hand gently rubs up and down my thigh.
