She did not! Had she?

“You did. You curled up around me while you slept with one hand on my dick, your head on my chest. Got to say, sleeping with a hard cock wasn’t that easy. Could have been worse, I suppose. You could have decided you wanted to hold my balls.”

She hadn’t done that? Had she?

She reached for the pacifier. She wasn’t really in the mood to talk, but she had to tell him she was sorry.

“No, leave that in there. I can tell you’re not ready to talk. It’s all right. I don’t mind you warming my cock. In fact, I rather like the idea of going to sleep with it buried inside you.”

Her heart raced at that thought.

“Was last night was too much?” He studied her. “Or perhaps not just last night. Maybe this was a long time coming. Has this happened before? Where you like to . . . hide from the world?”

She nodded again. Every so often, everything became too much. Normally, she loved the buzz of the city. She got energy from everything around her. But then she’d crash.

He drew the blanket away from her, shushing her quietly as he laid it out on the bed. Then he lifted her, carrying her into the bathroom.

What was he doing? She wanted her blankie. He set her down in front of the toilet.

“I know you need to go potty,” he told her.

She did not! How could he know that?

“You’ve been shifting around uncomfortably for the last few minutes. And you only just woke up, right? Have you peed yet?”

Drat.

Okay, maybe she did need to pee.

She shooed him with her hands when it became obvious that he wasn’t leaving. Now that she realized she had to pee . . . she really, really had to go.

She hated when that happened.

She danced on her feet, letting out a distressed whine.

“I’m sorry, Preciosa.” There was a look of sympathy on his face that she wasn’t entirely sure she believed. “You can’t be by yourself when you’re like this. Not even to pee.”

What? Why the heck not? That seemed stupid. She’d been by herself every other time.

“I know that you might have been on your own in the past, but I’m here now, and leaving you is unacceptable me. Come on, you need to pee.” He held up her shirt, and then pressed her until she sat back on the toilet.

Her body simply couldn’t hold on any longer and she found herself peeing. She put her hands over her face. Oh crap, how had she forgotten that she was still sucking on a pacifier?

This was nuts.

“It’s all right, Pequeña. I’m here now. You’re not alone.”

Oh, hell.

Did he know what those words were doing to her? There were times when she felt so alone. Sure, her friends were only a phone call away, Jake and Elsie less than an hour’s drive.

But she still felt so alone.

So silly. Don’t be taken in.

However, she couldn’t stop herself. Right now, she was vulnerable and open.

“It’s all right. Let Papi take care of you. Let’s clean you up. That’s right.” He took care of everything, even flushing the toilet and washing both of their hands before carrying her out to the bedroom, where he laid her down on her back in the middle of the blanket.

“I’m going to wrap you up in the blanket and carry you to the pink room.”

She let out a small noise of distress.

“Don’t worry, you don’t need to interact with anyone. All you have to do is what I tell you. Comprende?”

Then he handed her Roger and Snuggly before he swaddled her. He picked her up again, cradling her against his chest.

“That’s it. I’ll get you some food before we settle in the pink room.”

She didn’t answer. She didn’t have anything to say.

“Snuggle in with Papi. I have you. A baby day. How does that sound?”

Awful.

Okay, that was a lie. It sounded perfect. Something she shouldn’t want, but she desperately did.

“That’s what I thought.”

He carried her out and she pressed her face into his chest.

Please don’t let anyone see her like this.

“Bernard?” he asked.

“Yes? Everything all right, Mr. De Leon?”

She stiffened. Great. Her nemesis was seeing her like this. Just what she didn’t want.

“I’ll be in the pink room for the next few hours. I don’t want to be disturbed unless it’s an emergency. I have my phone on me. Also, could you make Cat something to eat? Perhaps eggs on toast.”

“Certainly.”

Was it her imagination or did Doomy Gloomy sound more human? She must be losing it.

Alejandro turned away and started walking again. Then he paused and shifted her weight. He was opening a door. Turning her head, she saw they were now in the pink room.

He moved to the chair in the corner of the room and sat with her on his lap.
