“You’re safe, Lemon.”

She whipped her head around to look at me, her brows knit together in anger. “Of course, I’m safe,” she snapped. “But you could have fuckin’ been killed, Rocket. You were shot. And I saw that guy get a solid kick to your knee. It was four on one. And these pissants were gonna just leave you there?”

I blinked at her. She was constantly keeping me off-balance. “You… were worried about me?”

“Of course, I was fuckin’ worried, Rocket! I told you. I’m your old lady. How do you think I’d feel if you died, huh?”

Knox, the bastard, let out a bark of laughter before coughing to cover it up.

“We’ll talk about that later. Let’s get home and we’ll get you cleaned up and go check on your little charge.”

Lemon grunted but otherwise said nothing. She went back to staring at the moving scenery until we pulled into the Grim Road compound. Falcon must have complained to the entire club because I was sure every single member in the compound had come out to greet us. Or, more accurately, watch the fireworks. Sure enough, as I climbed out of the truck, I saw Wolf and Crush pull chairs out into the parking lot and set a big-ass cooler between them. Crush opened it and pulled out a couple of beers, handing one to Wolf before popping the top and clinking the necks together.

“Rocket!” A decidedly female voice cut through the low murmur of male voices. As a rule, club whores were regulated to a certain space within the compound. Like our families had their own separate area, we kept the club whores contained in their separate area. Not only did it keep the peace, but it kept them from putting their noses where they didn’t belong. Apparently, that wasn’t the case tonight. On the heels of the first woman, several others emerged from the party room. I wanted to pull my hair out. I’d bet my last dollar this had been Falcon’s doing. All of it.

The woman -- she called herself Plush -- jumped into my arms. I had to catch her to keep from stumbling backward. I wasn’t stupid enough to keep holding her, though. I immediately shoved her away from me, keeping my hands on her only long enough to make sure she didn’t land on her ass in the gravel.

Lemon chose that moment to exit the truck. She’d climbed out of my side instead of her side, so my body was between her and the woman. When she stepped around me, it was with an eerie grace and slow, deliberate movements. Even in the fading light, she looked like a sight from a horror film. Her expression was completely blank, but her gaze was fixed on Plush. Lemon took one slow step at a time toward the other woman, letting her hips sway with each step, proving to everyone watching she was just as sexy as any club whore. More so, because she was also covered in blood, proving the violence she was capable of. In her Daisy Dukes and bikini top, she was every biker’s wet dream come true.

And yeah. I was so fucking fucked it wasn’t fucking funny.

“Touch my man again, and I’ll bury you somewhere neither Google nor Siri will know where the fuck you are.”

Plush backed away. She looked like she wasn’t sure whether this was a big joke or if Lemon was some kind of serial killer.

“Fuck. Me.” Dom scrubbed a hand over his mouth, taking one slow step backward before stopping himself and standing his ground. “That’s fuckin’ creepy.”

“Honey, you ain’t seen creepy yet.” Lemon continued past him and into the party room. I was so mesmerized by her retreating form that all I could do was watch. The woman had an ass that didn’t fuckin’ quit. She was slender but had curves like a back country road and legs that went on for fucking miles. “After I get cleaned up and Rocket and I have our little discussion, I’ll show you creepy.”

“Prez,” Dom said, his gaze on Lemon’s retreating form was as horrified as I’m sure mine was lust-filled. “Please tell me Falcon was shittin’ me when he said you took an old lady. And if he wasn’t shittin’ me, please tell me that ain’t her.”

“You gotta admit” -- I shook my head -- “she’s a president’s old lady.”

“No fuckin’ doubt there. A word of advice?”

“Yeah?”

“My grandma always told me you should never go to bed mad. I have a feeling that’s going to be especially true of that one.”

“No fuckin’ doubt, Dom. No fuckin’ doubt.”

Chapter Seven

Lemon

I’d known there was a likelihood I’d have to deal with club whores. It was why I didn’t immediately find a way to wash all the blood off my face and body. I knew it would be creepy as fuck and wanted to make a positive impression. Mission accomplished.
