“You can’t spank me,” I say, remembering this is a job and I’m not his to do with what he pleases.

“Can’t I?”

His question unnerves me. Can he spank me? Was it in the paperwork I signed when I went through my onboarding after I got hired? I never read the fine print to know if a clause exists about spanking girls who misbehave? No. There can’t be.

I decide to explore this opportunity—for seduction purposes—and possibly catapult into a promotion. “I need to clean up and get back to work, so if you’re going to spank me, do it now.”

His straight-white teeth rake over his bottom lip and a fire ignites in his eyes. My heart slams against my ribcage as I wait for him to make a move. We’re alone, and he could easily bend me over and spank me with no one knowing a thing.

But expect the unexpected.

I’m left gasping for air when he slowly reaches into my cleavage, letting his fingers brush against the swell of my breasts, to remove a cherry. He pops it into his mouth. “Mmm,” he hums.

And then he walks away.

I close my eyes, willing my racing pulse to calm before I grab a towel and clean myself off as best I can with these shaky hands. Once I’m semi-presentable and not aroused, I hurry back to my station, giving a quick nod to Luna.

She rushes over to me, eyeing my wet clothing. “What happened to you?”

“Panti dropped her tray of drinks all over me.”

Panti’s still waiting for her drinks to be remade, and she sneers over at me. “I hope this doesn’t affect my tip for the night or I’ll be pissed. These people are heavy hitters. I should complain to Adele about you.”

I cross to Panti. “You wouldn’t. I’m sorry. Should I apologize to your VIP guests? Who are they?” Hopefully, she’ll tell me who’s in the VIP room, and I can get the names over to Finn.

She snorts. “Ha. You couldn’t handle these boys.”

I cross my arms. “Try me.”

“It’s the Chekov brothers. They don’t like to wait when they’re entertaining. There are about twenty people in the room with them.”

I hide my surprised reaction. It was only a rumor that the sons of Russian mob boss, Yuri Chekov, were members of Club Greed. Now Panti has confirmed it.

Sugar walks up behind me, her stilettos clacking so loudly it makes me turn instantly. “What are we all talking about?” She looks like she stepped straight out of a posh magazine. A true gem to put on any foreign dignitary or CEO billionaire’s arm. She’s wearing a white lingerie dress that puffs out from her waist. “Why are you sticky?” She touches my arm.

“Had a minor accident.”

Panti rolls her eyes while Raven sets the last drink on her tray. “More like she barged through the backdoor like she was about to be attacked.” At Panti’s words, Luna and Sugar lose their cheerful expressions.

“That’s not something to joke about,” Luna whispers. “I need a smoke before I knock over the new tray of drinks.” She glances at me. “Watch my tables, will ya?”

“Sure thing.”

Panti grabs her tray and leaves without another word.

I face Sugar. “Have you ever had anyone you felt was a bit too rough in the VIP rooms?” I’m wondering if some of these members get rough with the Greedy Girls. Maybe rough enough to murder.

She ponders my question for a moment and then shakes her head. “No, they’ve all been wonderful.”

Ah, she’s lying.

“I’d think there’d be men who wouldn’t want to take no for an answer.”

She laughs, nervously. “Well, with me, I never say no.”

“Do you think one of the murdered girls said no? Someone could have wanted them to play, and they didn’t agree?”

Sugar collects a martini that Raven sets on the service bar. “Maybe? But they weren’t sexually assaulted before they were killed. That’s what they said on the news.”

She’s right.

“I’m just wondering if they ever complained about any members here.” I mean, perhaps the killer got angry when one of the girls told him no. Perhaps all three girls told him no.

Who knows.

That’s what I’m trying to figure out.

So far, it appears everyone loved all the girls who were murdered. Yet, someone had a reason to kill them.

The girls might have been pawns in a bigger scheme. Maybe the murders had nothing to do with the girls at all, and there was a bigger target after all.

Like Devereaux.

A shiver races across my skin. “I should get back to work.”

Sugar floats away with her drink in hand, making her way to the hallway, passing a bouncer who moves the gold-corded rope for her.

I step out of the server area and spot Devereaux seated at a table in my area. His eyes stalk me as I make the rounds to mine and Luna’s customers. Occasionally, I sneak a peek as I give everyone the best damn service they’ve ever received from a cocktail server. Since I’m under the microscope, I laugh, flirt, put an extra sway in my hips, hoping to prove I’m destined for the VIP rooms.
