“Not sure I want to know how he wakes you if he’s anything like his father,” the woman says with a laugh. I open and close my mouth. Fuck me. “You must be Lev.” I nod my head because that’s all I can muster. I’ve suddenly lost the ability to form words. “I’m Polly, Eros’s mom.”

“Right.” I make sure my robe is closed completely. “It’s, ah, nice to meet you.” I take a step back. I bet my life my hair shows all evidence of what Eros and I did in bed last night. What we do every night.

“Don’t run off on me now. Breakfast is almost done.”

“I should go change.” I step back again, but this time I run into a wall of a man. My man.

“Morning, darling.” Eros turns me around to face him so he can kiss the hell out of me.

“Eros,” I hiss, pushing at his chest. He ignores me.

“My parents are here. I see you met my mom. This is my dad, Ethan.” At that moment, I notice an older man standing next to him, who has the same broad, tall build as Eros. Oh my God. This is not at all how I pictured meeting his parents. Standing in my robe with sex hair from the night before. Eros is never gonna hear the end of this.

“Hi.” I give him a smile.

"You are just as beautiful as he described." Ethan gives me a charming smile.

“Watch it,” Eros says to his father.

“Really?” I roll my eyes at him. His parents only laugh. “I need to change.” Not change, put clothes on! I have nothing on under this robe.

“All right, we’ll be right back.” Eros takes my hand, leading me out of the kitchen.

“I’m going to murder you,” I hiss when we make it to the hallway.

“You say that to me every day, and I’m still alive.”

I huff. “You’re lucky you give great orgasms.”

“I’m lucky for a lot of damn reasons, darling.” He smirks at me. I walk faster until we enter the bedroom, and I close the door behind us.

“What the hell!” I whisper-yell at him.

“I didn’t know they were coming.” He gives a sheepish expression. “But I’m not too surprised.” Eros shrugs.

“You could have woken me up. Not let me walk in there like this.” I motion to the thin robe I have on. “It looks like we spent the night having sex.”

“We did.”

“You shut it.” I smack his chest.

“Darling, I promise it’s fine.”

“No, it’s not.” I start to pace back and forth. “It’s your parents. What are they going to think of me?” Eros talks about his parents with the utmost respect. The stories he told me about them and his childhood are almost storybook-worthy. The total opposite of my experience growing up.

“It is my parents, and they’re excited to meet you. Think it’s why they showed up.” Eros is leaning up against the bedroom door. I stop pacing.

“They showed up because of me?” I ask. “Wait. They know about me?”

“I talk to them at least once a week.”

“And you mentioned me?”

“Of course I mentioned you. Why wouldn't I?” I don’t know. I don’t tell my parents shit. I haven’t talked to them in over a month. I closed the bank account from which my mom stole the checks. Eros wanted me to file a report, but I wanted to wash my hands of it. If I did that, she’d be blowing up my phone. Right now, all I receive are random calls that I don't answer.

“You really think they’ll like me?” Eros's face softens, and he comes over to me. Like he always does, he lifts me up, sitting down on the bed and putting me in his lap.

“I know they will. You’re down to earth and say what you think.”

“That’s not always a good thing.”

“They’ll like it. You know I love it, Lev. My parents aren’t too far removed from how I am.” That has me relaxing. His mom was nice. There had been no upturned nose or judgmental looks on what I was wearing. “Let's go have breakfast.”

“All right.” I kiss the corner of his mouth. “Let me get dressed, though.”

“Only if I can watch.” I roll my eyes and wiggle to get off his lap. He lets me go. I quickly pull on some jeans and a shirt before running a brush through my hair.

When we come back, they’re setting everything on the table. “You want coffee, sweetheart?” Polly asks.

“That would be nice. Thank you.” Eros pulls out a chair for me, and I sit down. He kisses the top of my head before taking the seat next to me.

“Sorry for popping in on you guys.” Ethan takes a sip of his coffee.

“Blame me.” Polly sets my coffee down next to me. I thank her. “I’ll admit I wanted to meet you. Plus, with Valentine's Day around the corner, I figured my husband could bring me to the city and spoil me some.” She takes the seat next to Ethan.
