I glance at the back door, wishing I could just disappear. And he could forget he ever saw me. Then I whip my head around, hoping Chance isn’t here. Or Austin, because I’ll have to do some serious lying as to why I’ve entered their house unannounced and uninvited.

I’m here to have sex with Austin. To use him for orgasms and hope his dick is as talented as his fingers.

“Hi,” I whisper, my voice catching in my throat. “Um…”

“You’re here for Austin.”

I nod, swallowing hard.

“He’s not here.”

I slump my shoulders, feeling defeated.

“Neither is Chance, so take a breath.”

I do exactly that, but I’m not all that relieved. “I suck at seduction.”

My hands fly to my mouth. No, I didn’t. I did not just tell Miles Bridger that I suck at seduction.

He laughs and rakes his gaze over me. From any other guy, it might seem creepy, but Miles seems to be assessing and thinking—not undressing me with his eyes.

Well, maybe a little.

“I can see why Austin’s all in with you.”

“Oh?” I ask, lost.

“You’ve already seduced the man and you don’t even know it.”

I huff. “Except he’s not here and we’re not—”

“Fucking?”

My cheeks heat.

“Yet. But I’m guessing that’s the plan, and why you’re headed for his room?”

I nod.

And hope a hole opens up in the floor to swallow me and put this embarrassing situation out of its misery.

“Down that hall.” He points. “Last door on the left.”

He’s not steering me away. Or poking fun. Or telling me I shouldn’t go through with it.

He’s not shaming me.

He’s helping.

I blink at him. “Um…thanks?”

“You’re welcome. Have fun.”

God, could I be any more mortified?

Maybe I should go. This was a stupid idea. What was I thinking? I turn toward the door, ready to tuck my proverbial tail between my legs and go home. To my childhood bedroom. And my vibrator.

“Don’t you dare chicken out now, Carly. You’ve made it this far.”

I stop and realize he’s right.

I nod and spin around again, heading toward Austin’s room.

“Hey, Carly?”

I glance at him over my shoulder.

“If you can’t tell, this place is huge. No one’ll hear you if you’re a little loud.”

He winks and I scurry off.

For thirty minutes I’ve been lying naked between Austin’s cool sheets, and second thoughts are invading my mind. Again. I’m in the middle of a nervous spiral of doubt when I hear footfall coming down the hallway.

I swallow and tug the sheet over me.

The door opens, and in strides Austin.

He looks like a god. His hair is windblown, and his cheeks are shiny with sweat. What this man can do to a plain white T-shirt…

He stops short when he sees me, his hand still on the door.

“Holy fuck,” he breathes, raking his gaze over me.

He stares. I stare back.

He stares some more.

I squirm. “Hi.”

“What are you doing here?” He kicks the door shut with his foot, his eyes never leaving mine.

I frown. “If you can’t tell, I’m not doing it right.”

“Oh, you’re sure as hell doing it right, but why? I thought we were going to take this slow.”

I sit up, tugging the sheet with me.

“Jesus, you’re naked, aren’t you?”

I am. I might have a vibrator, but I don’t have sexy underwear. Even having never done this before, I know plain cotton panties and bras aren’t part of any seduction routine.

His words rile me. Not the naked part, but before that.

“You thought, Austin. You thought we were going to take this slow. I wanted it at the spring. I want it now. I really want to finish what we started at the Dusty Rose. I want more orgasms. I want sex. I’m ready for it. I ache for it.”

His brow wings up and a slow smile spreads across his face. “You ache, sweetheart?”

I nod and my cheeks warm at all I just admitted. I do. I so ache for him, and my tone only helps give me away. I’m wet and my clit throbs with need. He hasn’t thrown me out. In fact, he’s toeing off his boots as he reaches behind his neck to tug off his T-shirt. I saw him at the spring in only his boxer briefs, but seeing his chest again makes my mouth water.

His shoulders are broad, his waist narrow. Muscles bulge and flex as he takes off his clothes. I remembered how he felt beneath my hands, but hopefully now I’ll have time to explore.

“I’m sorry about earlier,” he says. “In town.”

He opens his belt buckle.

“I didn’t know what to say to your dad because I didn’t—”

“I don’t think now’s the time to talk about my father.”

He pushes his jeans and boxers down and off and he stands upright, his dick—hard and thick and long—bobbing upward against his belly.

Yeah, I don’t want to talk about my father at all. Austin is more amazing than I imagined.

He moves to the side of the bed. “Drop the sheet.”
