I’m in awe of her beauty.

“You’re perfect,” I whisper.

Those sexy pink lips curl into a grin. “You owe me a piece of beef jerky.”

I laugh as all of the stress and tension I’ve been holding for decades leaves me like someone just opened a drain. I’m with my mate. She’s finally here.

She doesn’t take her eyes off me. I can see that she feels it too. I can feel the intense need radiating off her.

“Anything for my mate,” I whisper.

She takes a deep breath as her blue eyes dart over my naked torso. “I don’t know about all that mate stuff, but you earned yourself a coffee. Do you want one?”

I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so wide in my life.

“Please.”

She heads over to the cooler beside her bus. “Are you hungry?”

“I haven’t eaten in two and a half weeks.”

She gasps. “Seriously? How are you still standing?”

I shrug. “My bear ate.”

She looks at me funny. “I don’t even want to know how that works.”

I grin as I watch her take the coffee out and start a pot over the fire.

I have one more chance.

My bear grumbles happily from inside.

Don’t even think about it, I warn him. The chance is mine, not yours.

. . .

Jemma

Inever thought watching someone eat could be so sexy.

My body is all warm and fluttery as I watch Michael’s big hand gripping that fork. He dips it into the pot of pasta and brings it to his sensual lips.

I have to fight back a groan as I watch him put it into his mouth and start to chew. As that big jaw works, I can’t help but wonder what it would be like to have his mouth between my legs. I shiver and he notices.

“Are you cold?”

“I’m okay,” I say, trying to clear my mind of all these dirty thoughts. But it’s hard when he’s sitting here in nothing but the towel I leant him. The slit is creeping up his leg, showing off his thick muscular thigh. It’s making me breathless.

He’s still shirtless, which is very distracting. I could get behind lending him a towel, but there was no way I was going to voluntarily cover up that big muscular chest and those delectable arms.

His shredded six-pack flexes every time he moves and it’s hard to look away. The more I’m in this man’s presence, the more I’m feeling drawn to him.

Even now, he’s talking about his family’s ranch and all I’m thinking about is how it would feel to slide into his lap. To have those big warm arms wrapping around me.

Mmmmmm….

He told me I’m his mate. That I belong to him.

I’m starting to believe it. It feels… right.

Deep down, it feels like my wait for the perfect man is over.

“So, your brothers found their mates already?” I ask, leaning in. I lick my lips as I glance at his mouth.

He nods as he takes a sip of his coffee. My mouth waters at the sight of his strong forearms. They’re so thick.

“My youngest brother Oliver is mated with an author named Layla,” he says as I try to focus on the words coming out of his mouth and not the way his bicep flexes as he lowers the cup. “And my middle brother Leo is mated with Tara. They’re great girls. You’ll like them.”

He says it so casually. I’ll like them. This guy really sees me in his future. We just met, but he’s certain that we’ll be together. That I’ll meet his family and fit right in with his mates-in-law or whatever you’re supposed to call them.

“Tell me about yourself,” he says as those stunning brown eyes pierce the depths of my soul. The beauty in them is unnerving. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

I’m a little shaky as he focuses on me, waiting for me to speak.

“Earl said you’re from New York City? That’s surprising.”

“Why?”

He shrugs those big shoulders and I shift in my seat. “I didn’t expect my mate to be a city girl.”

I lean forward and give him a flirty look. “What did you expect?”

He runs a hand through his brown hair and thinks about it before he talks. “I don’t really know. But to be honest it doesn’t matter. I can already tell you’re more amazing than anything I could have dreamed up.”

I twirl my hair as I try to fight back the smile blooming across my face.

“I’m not a city girl,” I tell him with a grin. “As you can see, no cities around. It was just a phase.”

“A phase?”

“A phase where I did what everyone expected of me,” I say with a sigh, “and ignored my true self.”

“And what is your true self, Jemma?” His beautiful brown eyes narrow on me. He’s so hot.

“I guess I’m still trying to figure that out.”

I thought I was close, but then this man showed up and opened up a huge can of worms. He’s got me thinking… Maybe I am his mate.
