“I hope Dana is ready for this,” Nick drawled.
“Ready? They barely moved in together part time. But knowing Drake, he’s got her purring like a kitten,” Callaway cracked. He would know. The two of them were the biggest man whores the club had ever seen, not counting Lucky back in his hey day.
“Wonder what Molly would have to say about that,” I said. Molly had been laying low. Cal frowned at me. So did Jack. Interesting.
“Trouble in paradise?” Lucky said, way too loud. If there was trouble with any of our crew, it was not a cause to make jokes. Then again, some of us deserved a little salt in the wound, more than others.
“No, Jackass,” Cal said with a glare that said louder than words to shut the hell up.
“I can’t stay long. Mom is taking the babies for a few hours this afternoon,” I said, glancing at my phone. I had plans for my woman. Plans that involved baby making, not baby watching.
“Doesn’t she take them every afternoon?” Lucky asked with a raised brow. Everyone knew my situation was ideal. With my mom and little sis right next door on the same plot, we had lots of help. Even though my sister was disabled, she was more than loving with the kids, especially with my mom watching over them. The babies brought a lot of joy into our family and to them it wasn’t an imposition. So yeah, I had more help than most.
Then again, we all took turns with the kiddos. No one in the club was on their own when it came to child rearing. It was a big, happy family.
The inner circle, anyway. We had some dubious characters in the club at large. But they were loyal to the SOA, if not of the best character.
“She does take them lots, but we have to work sometimes,” I said, with my turn to glare at Lucky. I threw on a ‘Jackass’ for good measure. I needed my woman every damned day, though it wasn’t always easy to get that alone time, even with my sister and mom’s help.
My lady was a super star singer with a kick ass career, after all.
“Right,” Dev said with a grin. “The struggle is real,” he joked. Like he was one to talk. Between Mae and Kaylie’s mom, not to mention half the club wives wanting to kiss their asses, they had casseroles and babysitters coming out the you-know-what themselves.
But he was the club prez, so I wisely chose not to call Dev a jackass.
“When do we start phase two?” Whiskey asked, tactfully changing the subject. We joked that he should have been a politician. Only my Irish tongue was sweeter.
“Should be cured by the weekend, unless it rains,” Drake said. His jaw was square. Set. He was more relaxed the past few days, for obvious reasons. He might have finally got his woman, but nothing had come of the security detail Cain’s team had set up on Dana’s old apartment. Now there was only one option left. We all knew it. But no one had said it out loud as of yet.
We had to use Dana as bait.
“Plenty of time for that other matter then,” Mac said, giving Drake an uneasy look. Jack nodded. It was time we handled this. And we had all this wet concrete handy… I doubted Dana wanted to live on top of the corpse of her stalker, however.
Drake, on the other hand, would love it.
“She’ll never go for it. And the thought of that creep getting that close to her again turns my stomach,” Drake said with an angry look. We’d been talking about all the other options all week. But the guy was slippery as an oil slick. It was time to make a decision.
“She told the girls she wanted this over with,” Dev said with a raised brow. “I think you need to give her the option.”
“I agree,” Jack rumbled. We all turned to look at him. He wasn’t much of a conversationalist, but we all knew how he felt about protecting women and children. He would put his life on the line, and frequently would.
Hell, we all had.
“Would you let Janet do this?” Drake thew in his face and we all gasped. “The mother of your children?”
“I would. If she felt strongly about it,” he countered. “Even though she didn’t chose what the Vipers did to her.”
Drake paled. He had clearly forgotten about that incident all those years ago. We’d gone in there guns blazing to tear Janet away from the now defunct Viper motorcycle club and their sex trafficking scheme. Motherfuckers.
“There is something I didn’t tell you,” Whiskey said, with a dark look. “When we picked up her stuff there was something else.”
“What?” Drake said tightly.
“I already told Cain. Don’t give me that look.”
