Gage thought he heard Trent working himself and for a split second he realized he should be stroking his Trent, but his orgasm crested, and he curled his hips forward as he closed his eyes and let his seed shoot out of him. The sensation was so perfect, so right his legs almost buckled out from underneath him. He wrapped Trent in his arms, bringing him back against his body. Gage’s arms wrapped tightly around Trent’s chest, holding him as close as he possibly could. Trent rested the back of his head on Gage’s shoulder again, and his breath continued to pant. Gage’s heart hammered and the earth fell out from under his feet, and then his knees did buckle.

Something happened in that moment. Something magical, something beyond anything Gage had ever experienced before. He couldn’t name it, but the feelings made him gasp for breath from the sheer force of their weight, as if his heart physically left his body landing straight into Trent’s hands. Trent was his and held his heart completely captive. He loved this man. He loved him as completely as he ever loved anything and his future stood right here, encircled in his arms. The pure emotion of the moment forced him to confess this love. It gave him no choice, but when he opened his eyes, Trent lifted his head. The gaze meeting his in the mirror was filled with fear. It wasn’t what he expected to see. It wasn’t the love he’d thought they had just shared. Trent was afraid, unsure and unsteady. Gage held his tongue, not saying what his heart demanded he say. Instead he said the next most important thing.

“Did you come, too?” Gage asked, not breaking eye contact in the mirror.

“Yes.” Trent said. There seemed to be a lot of unsaid things flying between them.

“I should have done that. You felt so good, I lost my mind for a minute,” Gage said, tightening his hold on Trent, leaning his chin on his shoulder.

“No, it’s good, it didn’t take much,” Trent said. Gage stood there, staring at him as his now sated, limp dick slipped from Trent. Gage wasn’t ready to let him go. He couldn’t see how he was ever going to loosen his arms from the grip they held on this man. Trent kept their eyes locked and lifted his arm, placing it along Gage’s, linking their hands together as he continued to hold him.

“I still should have stroked you off,” Gage said quietly, and I love you he thought to himself.

“It’s all good. And I think I even made it in the sink. I’m guessing there isn’t an electrical problem in here,” Trent said, neither seemed to want this moment to end.

“No, the currents running between us feel great, don’t you think? You did what I needed you to do,” Gage said with a smile.

“I need to get back out there. The site owner’s a tyrant of a guy, kind of a diva, and added a whole back patio electrical upgrade, even as we’re pushing to finish the main specs on time,” Trent said in little more than a whisper. Gage smiled, kissing him softly on the shoulder, smiling at the shiver the small kiss gave Trent.

“I won’t be able to see you tonight. I have crews in here decorating, bringing furniture and setting up the tables for tomorrow. I have to inspect the hangings myself. I’m sorry I won’t be able to drive out to your place. And I know I wasn’t invited to do so, but it doesn’t seem to be stopping me,” Gage said, his chin still resting on Trent’s shoulder.

“It’s okay. I don’t have to see you every night. I’m not that needy,” Trent said.

“Well, apparently, I am that needy. I already miss you,” Gage said.

“You don’t have to say things like that, Gage,” Trent said. The fear and insecurity were back in Trent’s eyes, and Gage lifted their joined hands, turning Trent’s head to his so he could look him directly in the eyes.

“I’m not that nice of a guy to just say things for your benefit. I’m actually holding so much in I want to say. I don’t like the fear in your eyes. I’m finding I would rather cut off a limb than see you hurt in any way. Trent, baby, can’t you see it? You mean everything to me. No, don’t pull away. I’ll leave it there for now, but we’re going to have this talk sooner or later. I can’t hold it in much longer,” Gage said. He leaned in to place a soft kiss on Trent’s parted lips, but the insecurity still stayed in Trent’s eyes.

Gage didn’t wait for him to reply, he didn’t want to hear what Trent might say because he doubted it would have anything to do with what mattered to him. He pulled the condom off and grabbed a hand towel to clean himself. He kept his eyes on the task he performed, but saw Trent cleaning up the sink, then pulling his pants back in place. Maybe Gage had read Trent wrong. Maybe it wasn’t fear, maybe Trent wasn’t feeling everything he felt. He’d put Trent on the spot last night, then again today. This could easily be one-sided. Isn’t that how these things normally went down? Trent’s T-shirt lay on the floor by his feet and Gage scooped it up, holding it hostage until Trent looked at him.

“You’re making me insecure, Trent. I wasn’t going to push you, and I’m still not, but tell me if you’re as interested in this between us as I am before my runaway heart goes much further,” Gage said, forcing himself to stay still, keeping the amused fake look on his face as his heart hammered in his chest.

“Gage,” Trent couldn’t hold the stare. Instead he paused looking down and Gage lifted his hand behind Trent’s neck, tangling his fingers in the short strands.

“You don’t have to say it,” Gage whispered into his ear. He hated pushing him. He wished he hadn’t said anything. The silence was answer enough. Just like always, he pushed at everything too much, too hard, and he needed to better read the signs Trent gave. His silence spoke volumes.
