“You had better!” Cash roars. “I’m already going to take you out to the back pasture for a meeting to show you how much I appreciate you knocking up my little sister.” Fuck. My MC brother and his brother are going to give me another ass-kicking. Oh well, my angel and baby are worth any amount of pain.
“Shut up, Cash,” my angel hisses. “If you lay a hand on Bender, I won’t let you be the baby’s godfather.”
He winces and slaps his hand over his heart. “You wouldn’t do that to me.” Cash looks like a little boy. “The brother who’s always watched out for you.”
“I have Bender to take care of me now.” She points her finger at him. “I love you and Zane, but you’re both officially off duty.” He grumbles under his breath while she turns to me. “There is nothing you could have done to prevent what happened today.” She holds my gaze while running her hand through my hair. “No one could’ve known that crazy woman would take us hostage.”
Maybe not, but I’ll make sure nothing like that ever happens again. After retiring, I assumed I’d become a regular joe who doesn’t need security. Now, I know better. I have more money in the bank than I could ever spend in ten lifetimes, but it means nothing without London. I plan on spending whatever it takes to ensure my family’s safety.
A knock on the door interrupts my thoughts, and I turn to see the temporary bodyguard stick his head in the door. “Mr. Valentine, there’s a Mrs. Templeton out here wanting to come in.”
“Let her in,” I tell the younger man. While we waited for a doctor to examine London, I messaged Giant and Grizz. My MC brother sent a temporary bodyguard to stay with us until we get home to Silver Spoon Falls. Grizz has resigned from his new position and is on his way to my house. I’m going to convince him to stay in Silver Spoon Falls permanently. I’ll build him a goddamn mansion if I have to.
Jenna, Emery, Maddie, and Piper all come in to check on my angel. There are hugs and kisses all around, and I tell them that I’m taking London home the minute she’s released.
“Why don’t you take some time off to regroup and get settled, then we’ll figure out how to make the long-distance job work,” Jenna tells London.
“Sounds like a plan,” my angel agrees. Her eyes start to droop, and I shoo everyone out.
After the room clears, I lay down in the small hospital bed next to my angel. “You aren’t ever allowed to scare me like that again.” I kiss her soft lips. “I love you. My life would be worthless without you.”
“I feel the same way.” She smiles up at me.
Once she falls sound asleep, I ease myself out of the bed and head out into the hall to find my soon-to-be brother-in-law. “She’s resting,” I tell him when he looks up from his phone screen.
“Then we need to have a little talk.” I was afraid of that. “I’ve arranged for us to have a private room.” Shit. I hope he keeps the damage out of view.
I follow him into the room and close the door seconds before a fist nails me in my solar plexus. “Shit,” I growl.
“That’s for knocking up my sister before marrying her,” he asserts. “I’ll give you the rest of what’s coming to you after you make an honest woman out of her.”
“I asked her to marry me last night,” I remind him, but my friend and MC President doesn’t care about that little bit of information.
“Me and two million other fuckers watched it.” He points at me. “Asking her to marry you isn’t the same thing as marrying her. She shouldn’t have been carrying your child before she was wearing your ring.”
“You mean like you knocked up Hadley before marrying her?” I remind him and get another punch, this time to my right eye. Fuck. I won’t be able to hide that shit.
“Fucker.” He pulls the door open and turns to me. “Take my sister back to Silver Spoon Falls and marry her.”
After watching Cash walk away, I head back to my angel’s room. I let the security guard know I’ll be staying with her the rest of the night, then walk into the darkened room.
London’s smile turns into a gasp when I step next to her bed. “What happened to you?” She holds out her soft hand for me to take, then pulls me to her. I slide back into the tiny bed and carefully pull her close. “Did my big jerk brother do that to you?”
“Don’t worry about it, angel.” I kiss her juicy lips. “All you have to worry about from now on is carrying our little one. I’ll worry about everything else.”
