A sudden warmth fills my belly, similar to the feeling of whiskey when I’ve had too many shots. I brush my hair off my shoulder and run toward the old black truck. Getting closer, I find Thane slouched back in the driver’s side, one arm slung along the back of the seat, the other hand draped over the steering wheel casually. He’s shirtless, his sun-kissed chest dewy from the hot summer night. Pressing my thumb into the old truck’s door handle, I jerk it open and slide inside. It smells of worn leather and some kind of citrusy clove scent. I can’t make out what it is exactly, but it’s some kind of cologne. It smells good.

“There she is.” His lips barely pull into a smirk, making my insides twist, but I play it off with a scoff as I slide into the passenger seat and shut the door, he starts the truck.

“You look good. Real good.” He admires my shirt, the one he bought me, and I decided to wear tonight.

“Some guy said it would bring out the color of my eyes.” I try to be funny, and he shakes his head with a crooked grin. Piper told me if you’re too into a guy he’ll become distant and move on to someone that makes him think he can’t have her, so I try to act like going out with him is no big deal. Even though it is.

“Sounds like a pretty great guy.” He winks and I bite my cheek to keep from giggling like a cheesy school girl in his front seat.

He grabs the gear shift, the motor purring loud enough that I make a mental note to see what he’s got under the hood later. Thank god he’s parked far enough away from the house so it doesn’t wake up my parents. Speaking of, I glance at the house one last time before driving off. No lights were turned on, so they must not have heard anything.

Sitting back, I sigh a deep breath. It’s time to let loose and do what I want. The Devil is going to be busy marking off my bad intentions one by one tonight, damning me to hell for all eternity.

Smiling, I can almost hear the maniacal laugh crackling inside my self-consciousness.

Running my fingers through my hair, I side-eye Thane. His blondish hair flips and waves from the air rushing through his rolled-down window, his dash lights barely illuminated from the truck’s old age doesn’t give his face the justice it deserves. It’s shadowed, making him look ominous when I know for a fact how chiseled and roguish he really looks.

“So, where are we going?” I ask trustingly, hoping he’s going to take me somewhere fun. I don’t get out much and I don’t want to waste a perfectly good night going out for milkshakes. I want an adrenaline rush, a night to remember!

“Someone told me about a little spot by the ocean.” He shrugs like this spot he was told of is no big deal but it’s a big fucking deal. He’s talking about the Look Out, it’s a huge ledge that overlooks the ocean, more like dangerously hangs over it. Skilled hikers climb around it during daylight hours, and at night the teens of the city take it over. Drugs, drinking, bonfires, and of course a whole lot of sex.

I’ve never been. My older brother Zane and my family’s reputation of badass bikers has made sure I’m boyfriend-less and sheltered of anything exciting.

If you knew my dad and brother, you’d know why. They’re one-percenters. As in ninety-nine percent of bikers are law-abiding citizens while one percent of them are not. I swear my family’s only life goal is to make sure I die alone, still a virgin, with twenty cats surrounding me in an old rocking chair.

“Come here, I don’t bite.” His hand that lays across the back of the seat barely touches the top of my shoulder. He even scoots his ass over an inch to convey he wants me right next to him. He glances at the road briefly before looking back at me to see if I’ll accept the invite.

God, just looking at him I can tell he knows he’s good-looking, arrogance flares from within him like a burning fire. My dad would hate him. In fact, I’m having a hard time deciphering if I want to punch him in the mouth or corrupt him into a night of unforgotten misbehavior.

“What?” He laughs nervously, one hand dangling over the steering wheel in that sexy way I’ve seen guys do.

I choose to push my usual unfiltered aggressive self to the side tonight and let myself be the girl that is cute and… naïve. I slide myself over until my hip touches his, my sweaty palms sticking to the seat, and that citrusy clove smell becomes stronger, making my body do things that make me want to climb on his lap and kiss those blush-colored lips.
