I pinched my lips, and my eyes welled up.
“I love you so much,” Lucas said, and then I heard them kiss. “We went all in with each other after one weekend together, Captain. For chrissakes, you were literally deployed when we decided to go for it. If Kit feels the same, why wait? Why not establish something for the three of us?”
“Hey, you’re the one who gets on my case when I break rules, not me. I told you from the beginning, I’d need two minutes alone with him to see if there’s chemistry.”
I grinned and wiped away silly tears. It was overwhelming. So overwhelming. My chest constricted, and I had butterflies in my stomach.
“Always my cocky fighter pilot.” There was amusement in Lucas’s voice. “So, you agree—you think we should talk to him?”
All of a sudden, my stomach did a crazy flip, and I stumbled forward, my toes stuck under the rug in the dining room.
“I think—”
“Shit,” I yelped, just barely managing to steady myself with a hand on the table.
Colt cleared his throat. Then his head appeared in the doorway. And he raised a brow at me before sliding Lucas a smile. “I ain’t sure we have to.”
Oh my God, I was such an idiot. My face turned beet red as both Colt and Lucas eyed me from the doorway, one of them looking just a tad more amused than the other.
“Are you okay?” Lucas asked with a soft smirk.
“Yes, Sir,” I coughed. Fuck, shit, fuck, I couldn’t believe myself. I was so mortified that I couldn’t look them in the eye. On the plus side, they couldn’t see I’d gotten mushy. “I’m sorry.”
“For what? Stumbling?” Colt’s smirk was downright wolfish. He walked over to me to get the lighter fluid and to…fuck, grip my chin and force me to face him properly. I’d been perfectly happy keeping them in my periphery, thank you very much. I prayed my eyes weren’t red. He lowered his head and nipped at my bottom lip. “Or are you apologizin’ for eavesdroppin’?”
I screwed my eyes shut and let out a pitiful little groan. “The latter, maybe. I’m sorry, Sir.”
He laughed under his breath and smacked a kiss to my forehead. “Too cute. I guess you’re lucky it ain’t against the rules to listen in on us—yet. Let’s go.” He took a step back and nodded toward the terrace. “I reckon it’s time we all talk.”
Gulp.
I was ridiculously nervous returning outside, because I wanted this more than…I didn’t even know. My heart, body, and soul ached to belong to them. I couldn’t fuck this up. I’d hate myself forever if I did.
While Colt got the grill started, Lucas gestured toward the sunbed. It was closer than the regular table and chairs, which were on the other side of the pool in a corner shaded by a big tree.
Lucas adjusted the backs of our seats so they were more upright.
I drew my blanket around me and crisscrossed my legs.
“Before we dive in, Kit,” Lucas said, “if you don’t mind, I’d like to hear your thoughts on the weekend.”
My gaze flickered between him and the space between us. There was probably a whole foot, and I didn’t like it. He’d want a response that went beyond, “It’s been great!” And I didn’t want it to turn into a performance review where everything was formal.
“Can we hold hands?” I asked hesitantly.
Lucas smiled and scooted closer, and he found my hand with his under my blanket. “Always.”
I exhaled and squeezed his hand. “I like you guys lots. I even like myself better when you’re here. There’s so much I want to try out, and I think—I think, with you, I won’t be too shy to ask for it. You’ve…” I thought back on how they communicated with me, how open they were. “You’ve put me at ease in a way I wasn’t sure was possible.”
It was Lucas’s turn to squeeze my hand, and judging by the look in his eyes, he liked my answer.
“Way to break a Sadist’s heart.” Colt set the lighter fluid aside and walked over to us, taking a seat at the foot of the bed. “I haven’t made you uncomfortable at all?”
I snickered nervously. “Not in the bad way,” I amended. Because the truth of the matter was, I could tell Colt had the ability to push me very hard. It would be uncomfortable and painful to the extreme, but it would be the kind of suffering I’d wanted to explore forever.
“That’s good. Only the good pain.” Colt shelved the humor and put a hand on my knee. “So we know this is fast. And I think, to take the pressure off you, Kit—” he glanced at Lucas and received a nod in agreement “—what we’ll do is just tell you that Luke and I are ready for more. You will wait until you’re sure, until it feels natural, and then we’ll set up boundaries for a Daddy/Little relationship. With titles.”
