“A man was following you and took pictures of you and my daughter. You will have personal security. You have quite the following, one point five million is a lot. That’s a whole lot of opportunity for crazy. I think this is something you should have had in place over half a million followers ago.”
My mouth pops open. I didn’t know he knew so much about my channel and followers. However, his words hit their mark. There are a lot of crazies out there—If only he knew, neither Bella nor I are ever in any real danger. I don’t need security.
However, I do plan to have Aunt Denise look into the forums to see if she can figure out what the hell is going on. How has someone gotten enough information on me to share? I don’t have a good feeling about this.
“If you think it’s best,” I reply, knowing when to pick my battles.
He cups my face and runs his thumb across my bottom lip. “Your safety is as important to me as Bella’s. There’s more to who I am, Liz. My wife’s death could have been because of me. I won’t have anything happen to you or Bella.”
I tilt my head and grin as I look up at him through my lashes. He doesn’t know it, but the same can be said for me. However, I keep that to myself. “You don’t have to worry about me,” I reply.
He stares at me for a while before he nods at his own thoughts. He rubs his fingers over his bottom lip before blowing out a breath.
“I think I’m going to place Bella in a school. I’m not going to be traveling as much. She can acclimate to being back in school and make some friends her own age.”
“So, you want me to move out?” I’m surprised by how hurt I feel from the thought.
“No,” he says firmly. “I’m not going to change her life that much. You have been good for her. I don’t want any of that to change, but Zek can handle dropping her off and picking her up. I want you to come with me to look at the school I’m considering this week.”
“Okay, but what will I do during the day?”
“Liz, you’re my PA. You’ll come to the office with me and assist me like you’ve been doing for the last six months. You’ve been balancing everything well. I’m actually impressed. How are your sales and sponsorships? Have you experienced any declines?”
“No, we’re doing great. The fans like that my content has become more scheduled to accommodate my work schedule. It’s not as random as it used to be,” I reply.
“Good.”
He pulls back and shrugs from his suit jacket, placing it on the stool beside mine before crossing his arms over his chest, still standing comfortably between my thighs. His face pinches a bit before he speaks again.
“How are things with Jacob? Are you still dating?”
I start to chew on my lip until his gaze drops to my mouth. His eyes darken with desire, knocking the wind from my lungs. Since Valentine’s Day, Dante has been nothing but professional. I’m taken aback by the look in his eyes.
“I’m always busy, so we haven’t gone on another date. We still text.”
“Are you in a relationship?”
I laugh nervously. “I’m in a relationship with my jobs these days. He wants more, but I don’t know if it’s what I want. He’s sweet enough.” I bite my lip. “But I don’t think he’s for me.”
Dante lifts a brow. He allows his gaze to roam over me. I tug at my thigh-high socks and squirm in my seat. Dante licks his lips. I go to pull my shorts down as my soaked panties make me aware of the fact that they have been riding into my crotch. His nostrils flare.
“You’re not into nice guys?” He snorts with the question.
“Not my preference. They don’t know what to do with me.”
I don’t know where the words come from, but it’s the truth. I’m a bit much for most guys when they get to know the real me.
Slowly, as if he’s thinking of his actions, he leans into my ear and pauses for a few beats. Then places his palms on the seat beneath me.
Goose bumps rise on my neck as his breath tickles my skin. His cologne fills my head and I almost moan. “Have you ever fucked a killer?” he breathes in my ear. Then shakes his head. “Never mind, don’t answer that.” He sighs and backs away. “Get some sleep. You’re with me tomorrow. My father is coming for Bella in the morning.”
With that, he turns and leaves me hot, bothered, and confused. What just happened?
Dante
I need to figure my shit out before I do something stupid. The woman has a very strong sexual harassment case against me as it is. I either need to keep this professional or grow the balls to claim what I know is mine.
