“I think I might throw up,” I muttered, breathing through my nose before slowly letting the air out of my mouth. “That’s how nervous I am.”

“Or it could be the baby,” Lennox suggested, just as the elevator doors slid open.

“Baby?” my dad echoed, his eyes going wide and a muscle jumping in his jaw.

My mom came up behind him and aimed a blinding smile at me. “Are you going to make us grandparents again?”

“Umm…” I pressed my lips together and flashed a desperate look at my new husband.

“I’m sure you have a lot of questions for us, but—”

My dad interrupted Lennox. “Like how in the hell you got to know my daughter well enough to be coming up to my home with her, let alone get her pregnant?”

“Cut it out.” My mom jostled him out of the way—only because he let her—and dragged me over to one of the couches in the living room. “If Brie is pregnant, she doesn’t need the stress of you going at it with her husband.”

“Husband?” Dad roared, his eyes narrowing as he glared at Lennox.

“Yup.” Mom lifted my hand to show him the rings on my finger. “I’m pretty sure our girl is now married, judging by these.”

“We haven’t seen you for a month, and now you have a husband and a baby on the way?” Dad growled.

Lennox dropped onto the cushion next to me and flung his arm around my shoulders. “I get that you’re pissed, but direct your anger at me, not Brielle.”

My dad’s nostrils flared, and he heaved a deep sigh. “I’m not mad at my daughter, and I don’t appreciate you trying to tell me how to treat Brie. She knows I love her and would never do anything to hurt her.”

“Of course I do, Dad.” I leaned against my husband’s side. “But Lennox is just looking out for me the same way you do with Mom.”

Dad raked his fingers through his hair, pacing back and forth in front of the couch. The three of us waited for him to settle down, and when he finally sat next to my mom across from us, Lennox leaned forward and murmured, “I respect you and value our friendship, but Brielle is my life now. I knew she was mine from the moment I first laid eyes on her, and as much as I hate that you’re disappointed with how fast things moved between us, I wouldn’t change a damn thing. Not when she’s wearing my rings, has my last name, and is carrying my baby—just like she was always meant to do. That’s gotta be something you understand…right?”

When Dad didn’t say anything, Mom elbowed him in the side. “Don’t even try to say that you don’t get what Lennox is saying. We would all know you’re lying.”

My dad slumped back against the cushions, not even bothering to argue with my mom since she was totally right. “Understanding and being okay with the situation are completely different.”

“That’s about as good as you’re going to get.” My mom laughed softly and clapped her hands together. “Now tell me all about how you two met and fell for each other.”

Lennox let me share the story, and when I was done, my dad grumbled, “I suppose at least it was a good thing you two didn’t do a big wedding like Gabe and Avery.”

Mom’s head jerked up and she glared at him. “How could you say that when you know how much I love weddings, especially when my daughter is the bride?”

Dad arched a brow at her. “Because they also stress you and my girls out.”

I decided now wasn’t the time to tell them about the huge reception we planned to have.

EPILOGUE

LENNOX

“Lennox,” Brielle moaned as she pushed her ass back against me, forcing my cock even deeper inside her.

“Quiet, baby,” I growled in her ear. “You don’t want us to get caught, do you?”

She was on the bed on all fours while I draped myself over her so I could play with her tits while I fucked her from behind. My words sent a shiver through her body, and her next sound was muffled. I knew she was biting her lip to keep from crying out. My girl had a delicious naughty streak, and the idea of almost being caught always made her burn.

This time, I wasn’t sure she would be as receptive because it was her parents who would find us if we were too loud tonight. But when I mentioned fucking like teenagers in her old bedroom, she’d said good night to everyone and dragged me upstairs.

The kids were “camping” downstairs in the den with their grandparents, and we were leaving for an anniversary trip super early in the morning. It was unlikely anyone would come up to disturb us, but I liked to remind her that getting caught was a possibility because it made her wild.
