“He doesn’t like me.”
“That wasn’t the question I asked you.”
“How about this.” This time, Eagle spoke. “He’s been asking about you. He’s wanting to be the one to care for you. I think he regrets saying everything he did. Sure, he’s in trouble with the club, but that’s not the only reason. He’s willing to take his punishment like a man. I told Sting I’d ask you about it. I’d planned on waiting until you’d healed a little, but since you’ve brought him up several times, do you want him here with you? To watch over you?”
Before I could stop myself, I nodded my head several times. It was stupid. And probably made me too stupid to live. But if he was willing, I’d take what I could. At least for now. I’d latched on to him for those very same reasons he’d tried to push me away. He was fiercely loyal and protective of his club. I’d hoped that, once he got to know me, once I told him what I needed from him, he’d transfer some of that protectiveness my way. At least until he helped me escape my personal hell.
“Then I’ll get him. But, Blossom? If he says anything to you again like he did before, you better fuckin’ tell me or Rose or Stitches… anyone in this club. Take it to Sting or Atlas. Roman. He was a hundred percent wrong when he said you didn’t belong here. You’re one of us. We’ll make it official once you’ve healed. You just need to choose which man you want for your protector.”
I sucked in a breath. “You don’t mean that.” My voice was a croak, emotion closing off my throat.
“We absolutely mean that, Blossom.” Sting spoke. He rested his hand on the one Rose held. “You’re part of us now. There are things to work out and more than a few things you’ll need to understand and accept before we make it official, but I’m deadly serious about this. We’re takin’ you in. And before you think this is about money or something other than simply keeping you safe, you’ve made an impression on every single person in this club. Even the fuckin’ whores. You’re ours. You’re safe.”
I couldn’t help it. I sobbed once. Then again. Until I was nearly hysterical. I believed Sting. With all my heart. One thing I’d learned about this club and all her members was that they didn’t play games. They said what they meant. If they were on the fence about something, they didn’t commit. If one of them gave someone their word, they followed through. The relief was enormous. I was throwing myself all in with this bunch, no matter what it took from me. I’d do my best to give something in return. Even if it wasn’t something I was comfortable with. Even if they made me be a whore for them, the girls were all treated decently and were allowed to have limits. I hadn’t seen much, but I knew all the girls there were there because they wanted to be and enjoyed what they did. Still, I couldn’t help but ask.
“Will I… Will I have to be a… a club whore?”
“No, sweetheart. You’re not made that way.” Sting brushed a strand of hair off my face. I felt it even though I couldn’t see him. I really wish I could see everyone’s faces. “You’ll be someone’s woman. We just have to find the right fit for you.”
“What?” My heart pounded. Did he mean what I thought he meant? “What if no one wants me? Will I still be able to stay here?”
“Honey, I’ve already had eight or ten guys volunteer to take you on. Gladly. Also had every single member of this club gettin’ their jabs at Walker for being a giant dick. Is he your choice?”
“He was.” I sniffled, still unable to stop crying.
“And now?”
I shrugged.
“But you want him with you?”
I nodded. “Don’t know why.”
Rose spoke up again. “Because you chose him to begin with, and you feel safe with him.” It wasn’t a question. “I know exactly the feeling. It was the same with me and Atlas. For all intents and purposes, he kidnapped me and held me against my will, but he did it to protect me. By the time it was over, I knew he was the only man I ever wanted.” There was affection in her voice. I knew she loved Atlas. He loved her just as hard.
The room quieted, and only the sounds of my sniffles and small, lingering sobs filled the room. I heard footsteps coming in my direction and wondered who’d entered the room. Then I found out.
“Blossom. Baby.” Walker gently pulled my hand from Rose’s and held it in both of his. “I’m here.”
“I’m s-sorry. You d-don’t have to b-be here.” I didn’t want him here against his will.
