“I know who Mason is,” I tell her, smirking at Mason. “I would ask how the fucking is going, but I don’t really want to know.”

Letti laughs. “Oh, it’s good. Best I’ve ever had.” She taps his chest. “Isn’t that right, Mason?”

He peers down at her, holding her hip. “If you say so.” He looks back at me. “Milo, know you’re here?”

“Nope.”

“I’ll let him know.”

“Don’t. I’m not here for him.”

He raises a brow. “You aren’t?”

“Nope. I came with Letti to celebrate,” I reply.

“Hello, Pretty Lady.” A hand slides around my waist, and Mason turns, taking Letti with him as she giggles and waves at me. I pull out of Milo’s grip and turn around to face him.

“Want to get out of here?” he asks, leaning in too close for comfort. I step away without replying and move in the direction of where everyone is gathered. A few people look my way, and as I go to sit in an open seat, someone growls.

“Move.” And the man next to me gets up without hesitation, and now Milo is situated right next to me. “Are you drinking, Pretty Lady?”

“Why do you call her that?” Letti asks, interrupting us.

“Because that’s what she is, even if she’s never realized it,” Milo explains. He turns to me. “I have your book.”

“You are a book thief! You know that, right?”

Everyone around us chuckles.

“I only steal yours,” he replies.

Letti grabs another drink, and I hold out my hand. She passes it to me before she sits back down next to Mason. People talk, and music blares, and all the while, Milo stays seated next to me.

“You’re drinking. Is that a wise decision?” he asks.

“Who do you plan to annoy when I’m no longer here?” I ask, taking a sip.

“You’re leaving?” he says, surprised.

“Of course I am. What’s keeping me in this place apart from my current lack of money?”

“I didn’t think it would be so soon.”

“Yep. Once I get enough, I’m gone.”

Letti gets up and starts dancing with some guy, and Mason watches her with dark eyes. A few people join in, and I look to Milo. “What do you want from me, Milo?”

He leans in close. “Just you. Give me you, just for tonight.”

His words eat at me. My gaze flicks to his lips and then back to his eyes. What would it mean to give myself to him, even for a night?

“A one-night stand?” I whisper.

“If you want to call it that.”

“One night?”

“It’s all it will take.” His lips are basically on mine now, and I pull back and stare into his eyes.

“Where?” I ask.

He doesn’t waste any time as he stands, strides over to Morris, leans down to say something in his ear, then pats him on the back before he comes back to me. He takes my hand, pulls me up, and leads us straight to his bike. Putting my helmet on my head, he climbs on, and I follow.

Glancing back over my shoulder, I see Letti watching me, and I give her a wave before we take off into the unknown.

Chapter 22

Milo

“Perfection in a silk dress.”

Igave her husband one extra week.

He begged and begged.

I didn’t do it for him, though.

I did it for her.

He doesn’t need to know that, though.

She sits behind me in that little black dress and her combat boots, and I have to remind myself that she was not made for me, no matter how much I want it to be otherwise.

She plans to leave, and I would never ask her to stay for the simple fact that she is more than this place. This place is nothing compared to who she could be.

Elizabeth is utter perfection. Currently wrapped in a silk dress and pressed up against me.

I don’t know how to describe it, but she makes me lose all sense of myself, and I want to do everything in my power to put a smile on her face.

Hell, I was ready to pay her twenty thousand dollars just to get those lips touching mine.

I would have paid her more.

I would have given her anything she asked for.

I’d always watched her from afar, and when the opportunity came up to have pieces of her that her stupid fucking husband was so willing to give away, I took it.

At first, I had no idea what I planned to make her do, but as she sat there quietly, I grabbed a book and asked her to read it. As time went on, I bought more, just so she could read them to me.

I would buy every book in this fucking city if I could get her to read them to me. Fuck, the way she sounds when she reads some of the scenes, the way her voice turns breathy…

I get why women read.

I get it so fucking much.

My perfect little bookworm, who is about to make me one fucking happy man tonight.
