“What does Beau do?”

“Whatever he fucking wants. Last I heard, he was still supplying fruit to the local market and finding himself.”

“Wow. So, all your brothers stayed in Peach Springs except you and Justice?”

“Pretty much.”

“Why did you leave?” As she stares into my eyes, I fight the urge to throw her gorgeous body over my shoulder and head for the hills.

“I’ve always said I left to find myself after raising my brothers for ten years, but the truth of the matter is that I left to give them the space to find themselves. I didn’t want them to end up staying in town out of some misplaced sense of duty to our family.”

“I don’t understand.”

I didn’t really understand it myself for a long time. “I wanted my brothers to decide for themselves what they wanted to do with their lives, so I left town right after Beau turned eighteen. Asher stepped in to take my place to take over the family farm, just like I always knew he would. Peach farming is in his blood, just like music is in Justice’s blood and so on.”

“You just walked away without looking back?”

“Not at all. I’ve always kept an eye on things to make sure no one needs me to step in and help out.”

“You’re a great big brother.”

“I’m glad you think so, spitfire. Now, enough about me. Tell me about growing up with rockstar parents.”

“It pretty much sucked.” My heart squeezes in my chest as I watch pain flash through my girl’s eyes. “My parents were always leaving me with the nanny while they recorded albums and toured the world.” It sounds like a horrible life for a little girl, and I silently promise to make sure my girl never experiences hurt like that again. “The only thing that made it bearable was having a best friend whose parents did the same thing.”

“Giant’s report left out your best friend.”

“Oh.” Radley gives me a huge smile. “You’ll have to meet Maeve. Her parents are Lollie and James Delta, my parents’ bandmates. We’ve been besties since diapers. I’ve spent more time with Maeve than I’ve ever spent with my parents.”

“I’m glad you had someone like her in your life, spitfire.”

“Me too.”

“Is she going to move to Silver Spoon Falls with you?”

“I hope so.” My girl smiles. “Maeve didn’t inherit the music gene, but she has one heck of a mind. She earned a PhD in accounting at the age of twenty-four. I’m hoping she’ll move here and take care of my school’s books.”

CHAPTER TEN

My eyes start to droop while the waitress clears away our dinner dishes. “Would either of you like dessert? We have a few slices of our world-famous cheesecake available if you’re interested.”

“I don’t think I could eat another bite.” I lean back and groan.

“We’ll take the check,” Owen tells the waitress.

“I’ll be right back with it.”

Once Owen pays, we head out into the warm Silver Spoon Falls night.

Walking down the sidewalk, he wraps his arm around my shoulders and pulls me close to his muscular body. His spicy scent wraps around me, waking up every nerve cell in my body.

By the time we make it to my hotel room door, I’m ready to jump his freaking bones. “Would you like to come in?” I ask as he swipes my key card on the door.

“If I come in, spitfire, I won’t be leaving until morning.”

“That’s what I was hoping.”

He stares down into my eyes for a few moments, and I start to worry he’s going to refuse until he breathes against my lips. “Thank God.”

He steps into the room and pulls me into his arms before kicking the door closed behind us. “I’ve been dying without you,” he growls and covers my lips with his.

I melt against him while he devours my mouth.

I take a step back from him, and his eyes follow my every movement. “Would you do me a favor and unzip my dress?” I ask and turn around so he can reach my zipper.

Cool air brushes against my back as he slowly lowers the zipper. “Thank you.” I glance over my shoulder and smile at him before letting the silky dress slide down my body.

As I kick it away, Owen’s eyes roam from the top of my head down my body. Flames roar in his dark green eyes as he stops to stare at my lacy black demi bra. “You’re so goddamn beautiful.”

“Thank you.” I bite my bottom lip while unsnapping my bra. “I’m trying to seduce you.”

His breathing accelerates as he watches my slow movements. “And you’re doing a goddamn fine job of it.” I toss my bra onto the edge of the bed before sliding the black matching thong down my legs. “Leave on the heels,” he growls and drops down into the armchair across from the bed.
