I meet his gaze with mine. “It was good, Callum. I had fun.”

“Alone fun or fun with someone else?”

Callum isn’t the type to pry in anyone’s personal business, but he’s always held a soft spot for me. I know he wants what’s best for me, and even though he doesn’t know all the details about my break up with Aiden, he could sense I wasn’t the same when I got back from Paris.

“Someone else,” I answer honestly.

He nods. “You deserve it.”

His phone buzzes in the pocket of his jacket but he doesn’t make a move to retrieve it.

“Don’t you need to check on that?” I ask.

“Whatever it is can wait. I’m spending time with my sister at the moment.” He picks up his cup of coffee. “You’ve got me for another fifteen minutes before I’m back in work mode so tell me what else is going on in your world? How’s Mr. Winters treating you?”

And just like my younger brother makes me feel like the luckiest sister in the world.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

Donovan

I swing open the door to my home as Delia trudges up the steps with two paper bags in her hands.

I rush to take them from her, noting that they’re filled with food. “Someone’s hungry.”

She scrunches her face so it looks like she’s attempting to appear angry.

“Or hangry,” I amend what I just said. “What’s with the groceries?”

“You didn’t get my text?” She flashes me a smile. “I texted you to say I’m cooking.”

“You can cook?” I ask as I follow her into my house. “Is that a new thing?”

“Relatively new,” she admits. “I like cooking, so I’m going to whip you up something semi-spectacular.”

“Just semi-spectacular?” I slam the door shut with my bare foot.

“I can’t promise anything, so it’ll be what it’ll be.”

I place the bags on the floor so I can bring her in for a kiss. I make it a good one, lingering with my lips pressing against hers as I trail my hand down her sweater toward her jean-covered ass.

“Hey, handsy,” she says against my mouth. “The ice cream is melting.”

I pull back to stare into her eyes. “You cook with ice cream? It melts when you put it in the oven, sweetheart.”

That results in a hearty laugh from her. “It’s our dessert.”

“What‘s our dinner?” I scoop the bags back up and follow her into the kitchen, noticing just how fantastic her sweet little round ass looks in the jeans.

“A noodle thing with some chicken.”

I can’t hold in a chuckle. “I guess I don’t have to ask what’s in it.”

She tosses me a look over her shoulder. “I don’t recall the exact name of the dish but my friend sent the recipe to me.”

“Your friend from Portugal?” I test the waters of where I want to fish for information.

That turns her right around at the entrance to my kitchen. Her hands drop to her hips. “Let me guess. Matthew is spreading rumors about me going there.”

I brush past her to place the bags on the island. “He said something about that yesterday.”

She steps closer to where I am, her gaze trailing over the jeans and black T-shirt I put on after my very long day at the clinic. “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.”

Relief relaxes my shoulders. I’ve been feeling tension there since Matt mentioned the possibility that his sister might be jetting off to Europe. Whatever is happening between us is new, but I know that I’d miss her if she left New York.

“Good to know.”

“You’ll help me cook,” she tells me. “Can I get a glass of water before we start, though?”

“You can get anything you want.” I head to the refrigerator to retrieve a pitcher of cold water. “Do you want ice in it?”

“Just cold water is fine.” She reaches a hand out as she slowly walks to the island to sit on a stool. “I’m thirsty and a little dizzy.”

That’s understandable given that it’s hot as hell outside. Her sweater is short-sleeved but it has to be retaining her body heat, so I make a subtle suggestion. “Take off your sweater, Delia.”

“Can I drink the water before you screw me senseless?”

The smile on her face tells me she’s joking, but screwing her senseless is definitely on my agenda for tonight.

“It’ll help you cool off.” I place the glass of water in front of her.

She tugs the sweater over her head to reveal a white silk bra. I’m a man and she has the world’s most perfect tits, so I stare and I do that openly and proudly.

“Up here, Donovan.” She taps her chin. “To be fair, you should lose your shirt, too.”

I have it off before the rim of the glass touches her lips. She downs all the water in under a minute flat.

“I’ll put the food away for now,” I say as I skim my hand over her forehead. “You’ll sit here and cool off.”
