Kieran followed me into store after store. It was obvious he wasn’t interested in any of it but he pretended to be, and he never rushed or told me we had to go.
I dragged him to every store: the antique stores, the jewelry stores and the stores filled with nothing but glass collectibles. Everyone was friendly and smiled at us. The longer we looked, the happier I became, the more relaxed my muscles were. That was his goal, I believed. Kieran had taken me out today to provide me with something I needed.
We were in one shop when Kieran said, “Look at this.” The second I did, I fell in love. It was a replica of a small town that looked much like this. There was a post office, an ice cream parlor, and store fronts similar to those outside. It was exactly what I’d pictured a small town would be—that perfect place of my childhood dreams.
“I’ll get it for you,” he said but I reached out and grabbed his arm.
“You don’t have to. I appreciate it and love it, but I can buy it for myself. You’ve done so much for me already.”
Kieran sighed but his eyes went soft. “There will be some times when I want nothing more than to spoil you. Times when it pleases me to spoil you. This is one of those times. Do you want to deny me that?” he asked and I didn’t. I really fucking didn’t. I wanted nothing more than to please him. It gave me just as much as it gave him. His pleasure was my pleasure.
I nodded. “Thank you, Daddy,” I whispered. I wanted to get on my knees to show him how much I appreciated him. I wanted to bury my face in his neck, his armpit, his pubes, just settle in between his legs and stay there all day and night.
“Good boy,” he whispered. Just hearing him say those two words to me made my dick get hard.
I wanted him to take me home and play with my hole. To push his fingers in, because I felt owned when he did.
“I’ll be right back.” Kieran took the figure to the counter and paid. When he was finished, we walked to the door, which he opened for me. The moment we stepped outside, I couldn’t contain myself. I needed to touch him, to feel him. To know this was real and that I had been important enough to someone to devote a day to me. Because that’s what he’d done. He’d made it all about me.
No one else had ever done that for me. No one but Kieran.
I threw my arms around his shoulders. It was such a simple action. I was hugging someone on the sidewalk and nothing more, but I’d never touched a man like this in public before—never been brave enough or close enough to a man to do so. I pressed my face into his neck and took in Kieran’s scent. “Thank you,” I said again. “This…this has been a perfect day.” Today had meant more to me than I could ever explain to him.
His hand slid down and he patted my ass. It hurt in all the right ways and I wiggled against him as I laughed. I’d enjoyed this, enjoyed us. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d felt this good.
“Get a room, faggots!” a man yelled as a truck went by. My blood turned to ice. I froze, tasted bile in my throat. It was as if someone had thrown cold water on me, dousing the flames of what we’d shared today. Before I knew it, I was jerking away from Kieran, burned from his touch, and started to walk away.
“Jared,” he said but I kept moving.
Get a room, faggots! That word had been thrown at me as a child because people saw me as different. Because I had been quiet and, in their minds, weak. I was suddenly that kid again, back in the past before I’d worked hard to create a life for myself.
“Jared. Stop,” Kieran called out, his voice heavy with power.
“Goddamn it!” I groaned as my feet rooted to the cement. I wanted to walk away. Wanted to be strong enough not to listen to what he said. Wanted to be strong enough that I didn’t give a fuck what someone yelled at me as they drove past.
But, right then, I just needed to escape because whatever joy I’d found in this day with Kieran had been blown apart. “Please, Kieran. Take me back to the cabin.”
He nodded, took my hand and wouldn’t let go as we walked back to the car.
CHAPTER NINE
We were quiet the whole way back to the cabin. My leg bounced up and down, and I continued to hear the verbal assault over and over in my head. Get a room, faggots.
