“Princess, are you going somewhere?”

My first reaction is to get away from him. Far, far away from him. But he has a hold of me. And our bodies are pressed tightly against one another.

“Let me go.”

“Say please,” he whispers in my ear. A shiver racks through me. His hands are on my bare back, resting just above my ass, and I can feel his excitement pressing into me.

And I hate that I like it.

A loud thump makes me jump, and I manage to push back and out of his grasp. The door closes, and only the two of us are in here now.

“How did you get in?” I ask as I try to cover my body with my arms.

His eyes scan me with a devilish gleam. “I let myself in,” he replies, not once breaking eye contact. “It’s what husbands do.”

“You are not my damn husband!” I yell at him.

“Yet.” He winks with a half-cocked smile.

Oh my God. I turn away from Crue and can feel his gaze on my ass. “Stop looking,” I call out over my shoulder.

“But I can’t, it’s so… delicious. I want to imprint on it.”

“In your wildest fucking dreams,” I shout as I reach my room and pull on a robe. Taking a deep breath, I try to gather myself. I don’t even know what to do about this man. He keeps on inserting himself into my life without my permission. I’m not going to lie, he’s very nice to look at, but he is also fucking crazy. And I try to stay away from crazy as much as possible.

I’ve been trying to lead a simple life since I left home. I was always surrounded by guards and had to attend so many events. At least here, I don’t have to answer to anyone. And how the fuck do I explain the Andrew situation? I suppose there is no explanation, considering how quickly they rolled him out like he was nothing. Meant nothing. And although we weren’t close, that shit is absolutely fucking crazy.

“My face is getting better, in case you were wondering.” I turn to find him at my bedroom door.

“I wasn’t. Now, leave.”

“So, about your father…”

I approach him, my finger pointing in his face as I clench my teeth. I’ve had about enough of this asshole pushing his weight around. And if he thought killing my boss and then Andrew was going to force me into submission, he has another thing coming.

“If you ever threaten to kill my father… actually, fuck that, anyone in my family, I will bite your cock off. Do you feel me? Asshole.” His dark eyes lock on mine, and his tongue slides along the back of his teeth as he sucks air, my finger still pointing in his face as anger radiates through me.

Who does he think he is?

Before I can do anything, or before he even replies, his mouth opens and he takes my finger inside. I feel his tongue slide around it before he pulls off and smacks his lips. Did he just suck my finger? I’m so flabbergasted that I stand here, looking between my finger and his mouth.

He didn’t, surely.

But he did.

“I’ll take your words into consideration. Now, I would highly recommend you don’t go on another date.” Crue turns and heads for the door. “Next time, wear black.” He winks before he disappears.

And I’m left standing here wondering what the fuck just happened.

CHAPTER 12

Rya

“You do realize that little stunt you pulled will make it even harder to secure your case, right? I told you to lie low.”

The delinquent with a mohawk shrugs. He has a mixture of fading colored ink all over his body. We sit in my office, me and this shithead I have to represent. I look at his uncle, Andreas Torrisi, as a voice of reason. He seems even more furious than I am. Good. At least someone in this family understands the magnitude of what he’s done.

Matteo, who is no more than twenty years old, looks between me and his uncle. Under pressure, he throws his hands up in defeat and points at me. “What? She’s the best! And even you said the little dealers on the corner were becoming a problem for business, so I took care of them.”

I blow out a whistle as Andreas covers his face with his hands. “Not while you’re in the middle of a trial, you dumbass.”

I lean back in my chair and cross my arms over my chest. Shit, Crue might have been bold, but at least he was a little more calculating than this shithead. I raise the blurred image from the street surveillance camera. At least he kept his head low and had a hat on, but it’s still unnecessary fuel for those who are trying to put this shithead behind bars for killing their son.
