Crue won’t kill my father.

Will he? Surely not.

I watch the time go by and contemplate canceling.

I should.

But why am I letting a man dictate my life?

I absolutely should not.

It’s what he wants and the furthest thing from what I want. So, instead, I pour another glass of wine, determined to show this prick who I really am. I’m not a doll to be told what to do.

I can fuck whoever I want.

CHAPTER 10

Crue

I duck just in time.

When I turn around, I see Angel with her hands on her hips, staring daggers at me. Her belly is large with her pregnancy.

“I want to see her. Stop being an asshole and let me see her.” She reaches for another object to throw at me, and Dominic steps in just in time, grabbing it from her.

“You can’t throw shit at him,” he tells her, and she looks past him to glare at me.

“I will cut your throat in your sleep, you asshole. Let me see her.”

“Fucking hell,” Dominic mutters and turns back to look at me. “She didn’t mean it.”

“Oh, but I did.” Angel hits him. “Don’t you dare speak for me.”

“Woman, you can’t threaten him.” He shakes his head. “I’ll talk to him.” Dominic tries to touch her face to calm her down, but she pushes his hand away, grabs something else, and throws it over his shoulder so it just misses me.

“I have plans to see her tonight,” I tell Angel. “She’s on a date, one I specifically suggested she not go on.”

Angel pauses, looks at me, and smiles. “She isn’t going to listen to you. You get that, right?” Angel smirks.

“I don’t intend for her to. I have to teach her first. So once she thinks her date went amazing, I’ll kill him and maybe send her some body parts to remind her who the fuck I am.”

“Best way to run her off for good, I’d say.” Angel flips her hair over her shoulder, then turns and walks away.

Dominic stands there, his hands threading through his hair. “Well, shit. Sorry, man. I didn’t think…” He shakes his head. “Do you plan to kill Rya’s date?”

“Yep.” I tap my phone to bring up the video feed I hacked into from her building. She’s standing at the entrance, and some guy in a suit is leaning in as he talks to her, a smile on his face. She turns to go back in but stops. “Do not do it!” I growl to her image on the screen. She mouths something and then shakes her head while he watches her with keen interest. I don’t blame him. Does this fucking woman have a bad angle?

“Maybe you shouldn’t watch,” Dominic suggests, peering over my shoulder at my phone.

She stretches out her hand, and he takes it and steps through the doorway, closing the door behind them.

“Well, shit!” My brother steps back. “Okay, let’s be calm about this. Think rationally. I mean, you killed her boss not just because of his dirty work but because you found out he was taking inappropriate photos and recordings of her. But this is different… it’s consensual.”

“It wasn’t just her he was recording,” I tell him. And I didn’t have to explain that my soon-to-be wife isn’t in a position where she could suggest or offer consent to any other man.

“Yep, sure. You killed him because he had a camera in the women’s bathroom. For the protection of the other women.” He rolls his eyes at the last bit. “But he only really seemed to store her content.”

“Scum,” I say as I pocket my phone. “I’m going out.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t,” Dominic says. Two of my men, who are standing outside the door, nod and then flank me as I leave. “Crue!” Dominic yells.

I don’t listen. What’s the point of listening when I know exactly what I plan to do?

No one can change my mind. In all my years, no one has been able to do that. So why would that change now?

“Get me all you can on this man,” I order one of my men, who is sitting in the passenger seat of the car. I airdrop him the photograph as the driver takes us back to her apartment.

My little defiant vixen.

Little does she know, she’s playing with fire.

And when I want something, I get it.

Even if they put up a fight.

CHAPTER 11

Rya

Andrew’s hands are everywhere. Literally everywhere on me. It’s like someone put him on fast-forward, and he forgot how to slow down.

Like, do your hands need to be there?

I take a deep breath and try not to think of another man while this man is trying and failing to undress me.

But it’s hard.

The way Crue’s eyes zoom in on me is like… it’s as if he can see straight through my bullshit and calls me out on it every damn time.
